Possibly a good Valentine's present if you can't afford a kindle....I know that HMV don't always fullfil their orders, but I thought someone might benefit off this deal (hopefully your order will be delivered)

not actually in stock-usually despatched within 5-8 days but good price if you actually get one

Great reader. Free Calibre software can convert almost any book to work on this.

Been waiting for a fortnight on stock from HMV.
Dont expect this to happen now.

link down for me

Good deal if you can find one.

Sony eReaders are great. I have always loved books but have recently got the PRS-350 and am a convert. And of course, the great advantage over the Kindle is that you can download books from the library for free. Like Gazbert, I would wholeheartedly recommend Calibre, but you will need to load the Sony Reader Library software in order to manage DRM-protected books from the library.

hmmm not actively in stock, so if you do order I wouldn't hold your breath...

On the positive side, got the missus one of these for Xmas, and it's a wee cracker ;)

prs-300? The current model is the prs-350, the prs-300 was known for its blurry screen. If this is really the older model I would give it a miss.

Don't know about a blurry screen, i've got one here and it's no worse than my kindle.

I think you're thinking of the old touch sensitive PRS 600? They were supposed to be a bit blurry thanks to the touch sensitive screen. Good price for the product and the build quality is better than the kindle imo. Just lacks the wifi.

I've been caught by the last HMV sony ebook reader offer just before christmas. Apparently, HMV have a reputation for taking orders including your credit card details, long after they've sold out. Keep you waiting for a week and email you to say the order has been cancelled. Shabby IMHO. No wonder HMV are going down the pan. Good luck to all of you.

Shame it's only pink - would have been in otherwise. Hot deal for anyone who doesn't mind the colour though

Blurry screen ? Um, no, you must be thinking of a different model.
Pin sharp this one :)

Can you simply read a pdf?

I got the pink one, it's fine and you can ust get a cover for it.

Discontinued, but seemingly still a bit of stock around. £140 on Amazon [marketplace] for this pink one for example, so good price.

I still think that a Kinzle for £30 more might be a better buy as you will have the 'latest technology'......

Heat for pricing.

Can you simply read a pdf?

Looks like it:
Supported Text Formats: EPUB, PDF, TXT, RTF, DOC, BBeB

but I've read that some readers can be quite useless in the usability stakes for pdfs.

has 512mb in built memory that cannot be expanded, you can read pdf files on them, one of the primary advances in the prs350 (current model) over this prs300 which is the older model is that of the screen which was made both sharper and has a better contrast on it, thats not to say this one is terrible by anymeans, you can get loads of free books on them and even rent from libraries there good little units,

getting hold of any of the latest models is really difficult atm as sony were completely out of stock at one point before crimbo
#17
good price, shame is not in stock and never going to be delivered

Got my cancellation mail just a minute ago.

HMV Cancelled today

HMV pulled exactly the same stunt in early December. I dont think HMV do it deliberately, l just think they are incompetent. As i said above, HMV are going down the pan and good riddance to them.
