The Sony Ericsson K550i mobile phone does much more than you'd expect from a conventional camera phone. In fact, thanks to the company's Cyber-shot technology, you've got a 2 megapixel camera that'll outperform many similar handsets.

Slide open the lens cover and the camera will activate automatically. There's auto-focus to make sure your subject stays sharp, along with a photo light that'll brighten your night-time shots. And if you're into blogging, you can upload images straight from your handset.

But the Sony Ericsson K550i can do much more than just take pictures. It's happy to handle videos and music, with 64MB of memory and an expansion slot for storage. The TrackID feature will even identify tunes that you've not heard before, displaying the song name and artist within seconds.

Get a FREE Spiderman 512MB Memory Stick Micro, worth £34.99, when you purchase this phone.

Your Spiderman 512MB memory stick micro comes loaded with Spiderman 3 content with selected Sony Ericsson Phones.

Exclusively available on O2 network at The Carphone Warehouse. While stocks last.

I can onli imagine someone isn't impressed with SE rebadging a K750i, albeit in a smaller case & quad band and then doubling the price.

Doubling the price?

This is £99 with a 512 memory card and £10 for top up?

k750i's are still around £79.99 or more :?

And I think this phone is far from rebadging a K750i lol

k550i has more internal memory, it has edge and a dpad which is much easier to use than the joystick, and more durable.

Its thinner and lighter.

It has more screen colours too ;)

It is not £99, I could not walk into a shop & get this for less than £100. If you went to buy it, it is retailing at about double, let's take a like for like comparison.

Argos K550i & Argos K750i.

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5474301.htm

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5472781.htm

It is the K750i, with some subtle differences.

Well, if the UK version has EDGE, it is a bit of a chocolate teapot, as we use 3G.

Thinner & lighter, woopy doo, as I said, same phone smaller case.

Anyway, my response, was to your comment about the deal dropping in heat. I didn't touch the temp, I merely remarked why it may have dropped.

I said £99 for phone £10 for the top up

You forgot to mention internal memory and fact this comes with a 512mb card.

And size and weight are important factors are they not?

It may be retailing for about double at argos as linked, but this deal is £50 less than that or £40 less with £10 credit and a memory card :)

Wrap it up, however you like, it's an old phone and over priced. And my point still stands, obviously someone else agrees with me, which is why it isn't coming up as a hot bargain, despite being cheaper than most other places.

Get over it.

It's newer than the K550i, that's for sure.

the k550i is not the same as the k750i, diff firmware so diff hardware. this k550i is a fantastic phone for the price. If it wasnt for the k800i going cheap just there wouldnt be a camera phone anywhere near its price to match it.

Oooh... different firmware, that makes a phone different. Now, a manufacturer wouldn't sell exactly the same in a different name and case for more money would they? Oh no, that wouldn't happen, now wait, let me think, which manufacturer put the K750i in a W800i case with different firmware and charged more for it?

Let me think, surely you couldn't flash the first phone with the second phone's firmware and have the same phone? No, no company would do a thing like that.

No, wait, I remember the company now, it was, hold on, it's coming back to me, oh yes, it was Sony Ericsson. :whistling:

Currently using a K800i, before that a K750i. But that is no reason to let the same old phones be recycled under another name.

The W800i had a new look from the K750i whatever the firmware and introduced the walkman brand to SE phones

Get over it.

It was the same hardware, different firmware and a slightly different case. But it was the same phone.

Now, go and Google it and have a read about it.

When, you've learnt something about phones other than finding the latest deal come back, until then, give it a rest. You've shown yourself up over the K750/W800.

Ok but do you think people didn't buy the W800 for the new casing alone? It appealed to a whole new market.

New case, new buttons, new firmware all equal new phone.

Using your theory nokia have only had 3 'NEW' handsets in the last 10 years:giggle:

So you could flash the K750i with W800 firmware:w00t:

How clever of you to know this
#23
Well to be honest, the w800i was just the d750i in a different colour with slightly different firmware, nothing more, nothing less...

Did k750i have an offline mode?
Did it have a dedicated MP3 player button?

Apart from this its all about the new look casing :)

I have a W810i in black and would swap it for the K550i in a second.

The plastic casing feels cheap and nasty to me. W800 was better built quality than this imo.

This site is about finding the latest deals not learning about phones:giggle:

Stop trolling road_hog - many companies use the same chassis but utilise different firmware; and not just for phones. It's an effective way to reduce development costs and/or market at different price points by providing differing functionality.

just ordered one for my gf.

That's one of the main reasons why I bought one to replace the K750i that I currently own.
Unfortunately for me I paid £15 more than the deal.

For those of us who want a K550i (whatever the reason), it is a good price.

received phone this morning, wow! what a cracking handset. much better than my w610i, feels more solid, great screen, and its even unlocked and debranded!!! The o2 handset should have a 550im logo on bottom, but this has the cybershot logo too. Very very impressed!!
