Great deal Edi. Not seen it this price without messing with vouchers, airtime, etc.

is it locked to vodaphone ?
#3
Thanks ducky

is it locked to vodaphone ?

Probably it is... You can unlock this for a fiver in most high street shops :)

It's not only locked to Vodaphone but it has their awful branding and custom icons too. Unless you're already a Vodaphone user you may well want the phone unbranding as well.
#5
don't forget quidco. I think someone on this forum was saying that play are giving 4% back instead of the stated 2%

Blimey good price, i sold my old one on ebay for 65 quid in the last couple of days.

No. There's a lot of deals pop-up on the K750i, often on LX Direct where you have to mess about with vouchers to get it for this price. Also, Play.com have had the K800i on offer lately, so that may be where the confusion sets in lol.

How do you get your deal posted on the home page?
[mod]#11
Great price for this thanks edi

Hi ramccann, your deal will reach the front page once it reaches a certain temperature (through members votes).
#12
All deals are posted in the forums. Then people vote. When it hits a certain temperature it gets on the home page. At the moment the necessary "deal temperature" is 30 degrees. Hope that helps.

Does this have any Vodafone branding on it?
banned#14
Tons :p
#15
Vodafone are the worst for branding, and its the tacky silver, not the smart black.

Good price though
#16
I have one of these. It'll be branded and locked to vodafone. You should be able to get it unlocked etc at your local market. Currently running mine on o2, unbranded.
#17
When I say branding, I mean on the actual phone/facia (Voda logos), I cant see any in the picture.

I repeat whats been said- loads of logos and branding.

The picture means nothing:thumbsup:

I have one of these, the only downside though is the joystick plays up all the time.. the down button hardly works at all now and its a real nightmare trying to navigate through messages and the phone in general.. Love the phone though and the camera is great..
#20
I've had my K750i for the best part of a year and have not had any problems.

The middle black button has the vodafone logo. And theres a sticker with their logo/name beneath the '0' button (the rectangle bit). I removed it on the day I bought it so I can't exactly remember what it is. The photo has been photoshopped/doctored.

As for the software itself, it is heavily branded. The battery bar is different, everything. Once you get it unbranded its like having a totally different phone.

nice deal  only prob is its voda branded..

Hiya everyone,
Cant be bothered opening a new post, but yesterday Play reduced the price of the Sony Ericsson W850i in White to £169.99!
You wont find this cheaper anywhere, ive tried.
However with the same problem as the above phone, being its Vodafone branded.
Ive sent off for one myself, but can anyone tell me how to go about unbranding a phone, or where to get it done?

Any advice appreciated, by the way, this is the 1st deal ive posted!

You can do it yourself for £5,

http://www.wotanserver.com/index.php?show=detail&phone=k750

It uses the cable that comes in the box, otherwise your local phoneshop will do it.

Sorry to be dull but how does unbranding actually improve the phone????
#29
Its moves unnecessary software for starters speeding up the phone.
#30
do you not lose your warranty after de-branding...and is it as easy/cheap for k800i?

Does anyone know if debranding can be done to Samsung phones too? In particular the D900?
#34
This was on offer at play just after xmas for the same price

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40730

I bought one then had it unlocked, software debranded & also flashed to a w800i walkman version (uses the same internal gubbins as the K750i)

excellent phone. The guy who did the debranding, unlocking etc, can be located at

http://www.mobyrepairs.com/

Hope its OK to post this link. I sent it to him Saturday by post & got it back by the Tuesday - not bad service :)

Yes.

IIRC you can't use mp3s for ringtones on the vodafone version, otherwise the k750i allows it. It's things like that and the really poor and slow menus.

Thanks everyone in educating me as to what rebranding does!!!

Incidentally I purchased one of these after chrimbo from play when it was 69.99 the first time................I dropped it on tiled floor last week and lcd screen has nasty breakage/bleed.................don't suppose this is covered by warranty any tips anyone on getting it sorted?????

Also Alistair how much did it cost to get it flashed like the walkman phone???
Cheers in advance Jammy x

The guy charged me 10 quid to debrand & flash it to the walkman model - that included RMRD back to me too :) He said he would have unlocked for the 10 quid inc too - but I had already paid 10 quid to have it unlocked locally

Just unlocked my W850i from Vodafone, and am now thinking whether to debrand (lose the Vodafone software) it now. When i rang 02 customer services they told me the Carphone Warehouse will 'flash' my phone to 02 software for FREE!
Can anyone tell me if the 02 software is any better, and whether its worth me doing this, or should i just get it debranded?
Sound cheaper n easier doing it in CPW than the other way.
Thanks all :)
