OK, so here's the deal. "Asda Mobile" have the Sony Ericsson K800i for just £99.92 wit £15 airtime included!! Whilst this is the same price as the o2/Virgin mobile deal at Carphone which Edi posted earlier (now out of stock), this has £5 extra airtime.
And before you scoff at Asda's ability to run a mobile I should point out that it's actually run by Vodafone... a little bit like Tesco Mobile is run on the o2 network. So if your Vodafone coverage is OK, this should be too.
So what will your £5 get you? Probably a bit more than you'd get on other networks. Text messages are 10p for the first three texts each day, then 5p per text thereafter. All minutes, any time and any network, are 16p per minute for the first 3 minutes then 8p per minute thereafter. That's cheaper than my Orange tariff. ;-)
Hey, it could be worth a shot. And you can be the cool kid on the block who gets to have an ASDA mobile, the ultimate sign of corporate domination. Do I care about that? Not really. It's a good phone, good price and a fairly good tariff. I say let Wal*Mart rule the world.
PS: May be worth taking a look at their other PAYG phones as the £15 free airtime applys to any phone over £30, and they're actually reasonable prices. QuidCo cashback is 2.5% (£2.50 in this case) for PAYG phones and a huge £70 for contracts. If looking at other phones on the site then remember to shop around. Happy calling.
