Can this phone be used as a 3G modem? I currently have the LG Viewty which isn't the greatest of phones but it does allow me to connect to the internet from my laptop when out and about.

Not 100% sure - but given the specs I'm pretty confident you can.

I got a response within 1min, first email to say been ordered and second to say it's on its way.

Might be worth asking why they have a whole bunch of reconditioned Satios. The tales I've heard from a couple of friends who've had these have suggested they are pretty unreliable. If they've had a load returned because of this then it depends whether they really have been "reconditioned" enough to make them worthwhile.

If a deal seems too good to believe...
#11
I should point out that both friends of mine had Satios when they first came out, so it's possible that "reconditioned" actually means that all the problems were in the firmware, which they have updated. I haven't voted hot or cold, I just wanted to sound a warning.
#12
Wow! Cheap as chips!
Tempted but just brought a 3g iphone.
#13
Tempting can always add the internet bolt on.
#14
whats fair usage on internet bolt on?

Edit:

*This booster comes with a fair use policy of 1GB a month.

Don't forget £35 topcashback!

Only £20 due to low value of contract, but still great deal, have ordered myself. Same cashback through Quidco too.

I'll be in trouble when OH gets back from the states!

This is a awsome phone, i have it on vodafone, i had an issue with it so they swapped it and since then no problems, camera is fantastic, internet easy to use, only thing wrong is the shockingly bad headphones, just swap them for a decent pair and it sounds okay

they will charge you more for any usage that cross 1GB of data per month.

my mistake, was looking at Sim-Only

BTW, my Quidco has tracked £40 - not expecting it but will be delighted if my mistake puts me up on the deal!

Anyone had a recon T-mobile phone before?

The Satio was recalled due to software issues. This should be sorted now, so these phones are most likely ones that were returned due to this and have now been updated.

This phone has a great spec, if i hadn't just got the HTC Desire, I would have ordered this.
#23
Any1 knows if it is unlocked?
#24
thanks
#25
deal is good
phone is horrible to use
#26
these phones had looooads of problems, so reconditioned ones are goin to be dodgy!!!

that said, cheap as chips!

The newer batch simply aren't that great...In fact Carphone Warehouse will swap any Satio in a contract bought from them for any other handset, a decision they made after the new batch was released because they still had problems. With Carphone's standard awful (see also - non-existent) returns policy - take that how you will.
#28
Good deal; thanks.

can any 1 tell me that what does 'reconditioned' actually means as in terms of a mobile phone.. will the phone be having its own original box... just want to be sure if i can sell this phone as a brand new phone or not..
#30
Suspect I am missing something here, but I dont get the heat of this deal.

- The phone is known to be a bit dodgy, but you can ignore this if you want.
- You will be able to sell the phone for max £200 going on ebay rates. Even if you get cashback at £40 (unlikely) then no profit.
- This leaves you with what is a pretty useless contract. OK 100 mins and 100 texts for free, but is a lot less than most people want or need - hence you wouldnt use the contract sim really, as the costs over and above the allowance will make it silly in comparison to a £15 or £20 a month contract.

Therefore, this deal would seem to be good for three groups of people:

- Incredibly low users who already have a phone.
- Those prepared to swap sims constantly, and have 2 different numbers.
- Those who want this specific phone but want to spread the cost over 24 months (at effectively a not unsizeable interest rate, depending on cashback and the sale price).

Those users do clearly exist, so a decent (if not scorching) deal for them.

Otherwise, not all that great!
#31
Out of interest as well, can this phone be unlocked easily?
#32
is this a resistive or capacative touchscreen?
#33
Resistive. Just like me at the moment to this deal.
#34
Bargain to be honest. this is gonna get hooooooot.

Just to let you know, I rang to cancel my T-Mobile contract a few days back. I was put through to Retentions, who offered me the same tariff as above, but for £5 a month for 24 months. They even threw in a new LG Pop GD510 (horrible phone, but I have a Tytn II anyway). I'd suggest anyone who is on contract with them, but no longer tied in, phone up and ask to cancel and see what they offer. They originally offered me 300 minutes, 300 texts and Unlimited landline calls (interchangeable with unlimited data) for £10 a month, but I didn't need it. Given the phone and the sim to my OH, who doesn't have a mobile right now, as he hates them. It's good enough value to make sure I can get hold of him when I need to!

Don't forget, the flexible boost can be unlimited landline calls, which is a great add on and saves you spending your 100 minutes.

Reconditioned
Probably wont come in original box
but seeing as it is t-mobile they may send in original box but no guarentee and highly unlikely
its probably a customer return due to the numerous faults its had.
They just done something to it and cant sell it as new so its 'reconditioned'

Currently posting from a Satio and have to say I strongly advise you not to get it. The camera is amazing but everything else is pretty poor. The battery is awful - really honestly dreadful. Very few apps for it that work well and I've had to factory reset it after the gps stopped working. The internet constantly cuts out on both 3g and wifi and although it has a ton of features, only the camera works well. I really regret not getting an iphone.

This could by why the Satio isn't considered a great phone - it's being compared to something that you can only get on a £30pm contract (from memory - I prepare to be corrected).

£10 contracts have phones like LG Pop and other crud like that. I'm sure it's not as good as an iPhone, but for £10 per month I'm sure it's not unusable.

I'm not sure the contract cost is that relevant though - what is more relevant is the value of the phone, not the subsidised level of it by the SP.

In this case, ebay values between the two are not a million miles apart - yes, a little more (maybe 20% ish) for an iphone 3G.

If u have ever used an iphone or other devices with similar touchscreen you would never even think of buying this phone. It is absolute rubbish to use.
