Carphone Warehouse are crafty with this as the 'O2 phone' is the price the op has stated. You have to have the top up on a new sim, cant put your current one in and have the credit on it. On virgin it is £10 quid more for the phone. But, all the T280i's they are flogging atm are actually unlocked, so you are better off getting the o2 one and selling the top up if you want a new phone but want to keep your numer/network. I think it's hot, I bought one, good phone for the price, radio is good, battery is good, bit limited, but what do you expect for the price.

Good spec phone for the price and an easy phone to use, hot from me, although like dan has stated above, go for the o2 option.
#4
Dont forget £5.00 Quidco
#5
Same price at e2save but you get £7 quidco (£2 more than CPW). Purchased this myself a few weeks back and very pleased with the phone.

this phone is not sturdy, loose battery cover and low volume on call...50-50 for me..
#7
is it unlocked
#8
no memory slot

The one I got is unlocked, Just ask at the counter and they will tell you. And in reply to Amity4Amity the phone actually feels verry sturdy and solid in the hand, battery cover wedges on tightly, no chance of it coming off. And the call volume is fine if you turn it up, which is not obvious to do.

My battery cover is nigh on impossible to get off without a lot of effort (a good thing) and the call volume is absolutely perfect, even through Bluetooth in the car.

I guess yours is a bad one? I sold my Samsung Omnia and replaced it with this!

Sadly that's true of all the current low-end Sony-Ericsson models. They're cheaply made with thin casing and poorly-fitting battery compartment. Compare any new Sony-Ericsson to those of just a couple of years ago. Desperate times for this company has caused them to take desperate measures!

There's the kick in the teeth.

It has an MP3 player, a 1.3 megapixel camera, but only 10mb of onboard memory and no memory expansion slot, what idiot designed that?!
#15
Dont all phone's from Carphone come unlocked. I'v bought 2/3 phones from them and they've all been unlocked.
#16
Not all phones in CPW are unlocked - some handsets are locked to certain networks and are usually £10-20 cheaper because of it.
You can normally tell from the packaging though - as they tend to put their logos on it, or on the serial number part of the box - find the product code, if it ends ORANGE or VIRGIN or TMOBILE then it will be locked to that network (or ORG, VIR, TMOB)
O2 phones are generally never locked. Occasionally some weird O2-only unbranded handsets were - but all known-brand O2 handsets are unlocked.

And yes, Carphone & e2save (and mobiles.co.uk) are all the same company..
#17
Generally they are but if you buy it and its not unlocked, then you do not have valid grounds to return this handset back.
But yes this handset is generic and unlocked.

Just a heads up that you can buy this phone then sell it to CeX for £27 cash, meaning you got £10 credit for £2.10

Or if you were planning on buying from CeX then you can get £32 store cred.

Seems a good phone for the price.
