Play.com have the Sony Ericsson W350i for £49.99 on Vodafone pay as you go, and have decided to throw a FREE Sony Ericsson Speaker into the deal too!! Delivery is free of charge.

As with all Play.com purchases currently, you may be able to get 5% off with the attatched vouchers.

The W350i gives you instant access to your music. Keep your phone closed and simply use the keys on the flip to browse songs, play and skip to the next track. The W350i's Walkman player can easily be accessed and operated even without opening its flip cover. With Walkman on Top, key MP3 functions including Play, Pause and Scroll are outside the phone's flip cover so you can use it just like you would a standalone MP3 player.

No speaker though. :) Definitely not cheaper anywhere else, either.

Its £43 something on Orange, but I think you need to topup. But I don't think you get a speaker.

Dialaphone are legit before someone asks, used them from some years before my Iphone.

All phones are fairly fragile if you don't want a brick. You need to take care of them!

I have found Nokias generally very robust though, probably more so than your average SE.

How easy are these to unlock, is there any Vodafone branding on it?

In comparision to a nokia expensive. Nokias can be unlocked with codes. Sony Ericons either need the operator to unlock it at expense, or to buy a unlocking kit/cable/software.

I got my new Sony Ericsson unlocked yesterday down at our local market for £8. It took about 10 minutes and is hardly what i'd call expensive.

Comparision to £2.50 online for a Nokia, also dependant on local trader, some monkey wanted to charge £20 for the simple unlocking.

I think it is more apt to this thread as these were the phones in question

I will not be buying anymore SonyEricsson phones from Play.com anymore

In October 2008 we bought 2 w350i phones from play for birthday presents (twin girls) .At the end of November 2008 one of the phones would no longer charge the battery, rang play who said they wont do anything about it and to contact SonyEricsson as its under warranty

Rang SonyEricsson who told us to send it to

Kuehne & Nagel
Appletree Rd,
Chipping Warden,
Banbury,
Oxfordshire OX17 1LL
Tel: 01295 663000

A week later we received a letter saying that the phone and contents were not covered under the warranty and that we would have to pay for repairs

We rang SonyEriccson up to tell them that we had sent the Play.com receipt for proof of purchase with the phone and contents, at which point they then informed us that Play.com is not an authorized seller for any of their phones and therefore they are not covered under their warranty

Rang Play.com back up and they have basically said its nothing to do with them sort it out with SonyEricsson

If you are seriously thinking about buying the phone from Play.com, may i suggest that you give the phone number a ring, just too confirm what i have written

A lot of those online unlockers are complete rip off merchants. Do a simple search and you'll see. I just got ripped of by one of them for just over £3 but managed to get a refund after sending quite a few e-mails, one of which was to Nochex.

Generally candybar phones are pretty tough. :)

I know what you mean. I've just got a Sony Ericsson slider phone and it doesn't feel half as robust or up to leaving in my pocket as the standard shaped SE that it's replacing.
