My girlfriend has this phone, it's very stylish with decent features. Certainly a good deal at this price and I think this is the nicest colour.

A major negative point is that the buttons are notorious for cracking and are likely to do so within a month. My girlfriend has sent her one back for repair twice and the buttons have just started cracking again. It's mainly a cosmetic thing, but not something you want on a phone that trades on its looks.

Perhaps this issue has now been sorted - but worth bearing in mind as a possible future problem.

Voted hot. My daughter has this phone & she loves it. Think it was only the early models that had the problem with the buttons so hopefully these should be ok.

But the 10% RAC discount is only for these items:

I take it this is vodafone branded with a logo on the actual phone itself?

Voted hot. It doesn't have th best camera in the world though...

Yes it is - but you can debrand AND unlock it for free. There's a tutorial on this forum somewhere. So the only noticeable thing that the phone once was Vodafone branded will be the small sticky logo on the phone (which can be pealed off and replaced if necessary).

Does the camera have autofocus?

Most Walkman phones (except older models - w800i, w900i and w810i) doesn't have auto focus, and only 2.5 zoom.

If you want auto focus and more camera features you'll need to buy an Cyber shot model.

Not too keen on the Girly White - would much rather prefer the silver version.

A review that may be worth a read before you buy:

£75.99 Seems like a steel although would be better if it was free.

I would go for K800i which is available at around the same price or less on Orange and Voda PAYG. It's a better phone with a better camera.

No Light On It So No Good For Night Time Piccys

Stear clear my girlfriend has had two of these in pink on Orange. No problems with buttons cracking so far but both suffer from constant freezing up to the point were she can't use it and at times it even randomly rings people for no reason.

Voted COLD.

I have the same cracked buttons on my phone after it was replaced by the store I purchased it from (who then didnt give me a new receipt so Sony will not recognise the warrenty - thanks phones4u). three of navigational buttons have now stopped working including the back button so its a nightmare trying to do anything. it does look great but the build quality is terrible and the shake feature is pointless - avoid.

I'm sure not all the 580 owners suffer these problems - you can't just vote a product COLD for that reason! This price beats all the rest by a mile!

I kind of agree - and still think this is a hot deal despite the possibilty of cracking buttons etc...

Saying that it's good that people are posting to warn about problems they've had with the phone, and sadly there seem to be quite a few of us.

Good luck to all who buy - and hopefully the issues have been sorted.

Had mine since end of September last year. Works brilliant, very nice phone, wouldn't even try buying anything else than Sony Ericsson. Bought it for £60-ish from Littlewoods.
Build quality is great, cannot complain about cracking buttons or anything. Screen is brilliant, no scratches, nothing. Other two phones I’m carrying with me look much worse, both of them are Nokia’s.
Camera is not brilliant, but I don’t use it anyway, so doesn’t make difference for me. Good for listening mp3 / radio. Quite lightweight and battery lasts long for me.
Very happy with this phone and wouldn’t want to risk buying something else. First Sony-Ericsson in my life and really can’t say a bad word about it.

I agree that the price is good but I honestly can't recommend anyone to buy this phone due to the risk of getting a dud I beleive is a lot higher with this than with most other phones.

This phone looks really nice but wont be needing it. I just bought the N95 8GB!!!

Crackin deal.
Mine came yesterday and it's SIM FREE!!!!
Popped my O2 sim card in and it just worked. So no hassle with unlocking.
I'd also say it looks more "silvery" in colour than white.
