A special deal from Orange, which I'm sure can easily be unlocked. Bought this phone and is easily the best phone I've ever had. Absolutely jam packed with features! You can also gain £5 taking the deal through Quidco!

The website does take you through a £10 top up which is okay if you are an Orange user. Yet, there must be a way of wriggling out of it? Still, even with the topup it's a good price when you think of the phone you're getting and take into consideration £5 Quidco!

Funnel your favorite music into the ultra slim W880i Walkman phone. Store up to 900 tracks - enough to give your musical taste buds whatever they fancy.

There must be a way of getting out of the £10 topup. Anyway if you are on Orange already you can have the £10 top up transferred onto your mobile existing number.

There are some brilliant reviews for this phone on Amazon. Just follow the link here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Ericsson-W880i-Prepay-Mobile/dp/B000R9TWD0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1242564900&sr=8-1

very good price

Any idea how much Orange charges for unlocking this phone?
#7
Tap the phone on the back and it turns off. Not very durable unfortunately.

This can be frustrating

bloody keys crack easily on these, no good for text freaks

I've heard a few people say about the reset problem, but I had this phone on an 18 month contract and just gave it to my mate this week, and it never once reset itself. In fact, I never had one single problem with it so gets a hot vote from me as this is a great price for a really good phone.

Good deal for the phone, but I can't understand how a supposed Walkman phone can get away with not having a standard 3.5mm headphone socket, you have to use the bulky adapter which plugs into the side(!) for some bizarre reason. I'm waiting for a good price on the Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic instead. Thanks for posting though :)

Had this phone in the past, i liked it. Lots of features, very light and compact, only downside is i found the keys a bit small and fiddly. I would have rated it 8/10

I had the gold version of this phone and after being sent back twice was exchanged for a new one then sent back another couple of times (in a 14 month period). It was then swopped for a Nokia. :(

I had this phone on an 18mth contract with 02, I gave it to a friend and he was able to put a T-mobile sim into it without unlocking it.
It is a great phone only down side for me was it has no radio.
I had no problems with it and it is still going strong nearly two years on.

Good phone but no camera flash

Whether it is locked or not does depend on network and where you buy it. O2 have been known in the past for their phones to generally be unlocked, however Orange phones are usually locked.
The W880i is unlockable though.

Never thought much of this phone, I'd had Sony Ericssons for the last 7 years and this was the one that made me move away from them. Bad keys, glitchy software, terrible build quality (mine actually warped in shape by the time I got rid of it, it had a 5 degree curve yet still worked (although I had to tape the battery cover down). Only lasted 13 months of an 18 month contract too.

When it worked it was an otherwise decent phone. Stereo Bluetooth, HSDPA, and Bluetooth PAN made it a decent non-smartphone to use. A shame that Sony Ericsson seem to limping to the barn with pretty much every phone they've made since.

Had no problems with this phone on Virgin in the 8 months owned. :)

Up till now no problems with any SE's we have had in our household (LG KC550 not so good - on 4th now since Feb)

As already mentioned, no flash/light, or radio and keypad could be better, but feels quality, looks really good, nice screen and very compact.

Hot deal at this price. Guess they won't be around much longer.

Old model now, keys never crack on this model that I have heard, only on the newer models, this has been around for ages....

Great price BTW....

I've had one of these for - err - 22 months now and it's fine a fantastic little phone.

No reset problem - one key came loose and I just clipped it back in and had no trouble since.

Number Keys are fine but the 'smart' keys around the pad are a little cramped - it's easy to hit 2 instead of the one you wanted - but tbh most modern mobiles have cramped keypads to some degree - this probably isn't the best phone for the hardcore texter tho...

Only other downsides are lack of 3.5mm jack (this and almost every other phone), slow memory card read/write (you need to take the card out to put music onto it unless you have HOURS to spare) and low ring volume (you won't hear it in your pocket most likely).

I love mine tho - I don't care about camera flash (99% useless anyway) and it takes quick pics at a decent quality level without waiting for AF, flash and all that jazz...

At £60 they're a steal.

My experience of Orange PAYG is that they will unlock a PAYG if you put £30ish of credit onto it - e.g. they want to get something back for you getting the phone 'cheaper'. W880is aren't hard to unlock otherwise tho - but bear in mind that Orange do 'brand' their phones (changing some key functions etc.)

hi, i work for orange payg and on the unlocking issue, you have to be on orange payg sim for at least for 3 months before you can request the unlocking and it will cost you £20 for the privilege. i would consider getting it done somewhere else myself tbh,

I've previously had this phone and they are great!

Thanks for this. Got one and unlocked it quite easily. Not a bad phone for £49.99.
