price is £199.99 and requires to be bought with £10 airtime = £209.99 but enter code EMAIL10 knocks it down to £189.99 with free delivery. So £20 cheaper than the phones 4 u deal. Like that deal i think these will be unbranded and unlocked so any sim should work in them but you may want to contact dialaphone to confirm this.

anyway this is a great price for a phone only out this summer & gets great reviews ...

and this cannot be found cheaper anywhere else...

With a model number like W995, you get the impression Sony Ericsson want you to know this is a high-end, top quality product. So surely with a tag like this, the W995 makes the tea, takes out the dustbin and prepares a lovely four course meal for you. OK, so it doesn't do any of those things, but this is one phone which brings the best of both the Walkman and CyberShot range of phones together in one fantastic package, whilst even finding space to squeeze in one of the most requested Sony Ericsson features ever

£5 quidco as well

Would be good if they were unlocked/unbranded. Vodafone fimware was awful on my last SE and I hear Orange's is as bad.
#3
Gone for this - my first SE..

Thanks!

No problem, hope it helps someone.

i sold my tocco for £70 so only needed to pay out £120 for this then fired my voda sim 100 mins/500 texts & unlimited internet (30 day rolling contract) for £17.50 a month into it . Happy times !!!

If anyone's planning on buying this, PM me for a dialaphone referral name. I'll earn £20 for it and i'm willing to split it as a tenner either way, through PayPal. Free money all around! :D
#6
Anyone bought one of these and can confirm if they are unlocked/unbranded?

Quite fancy one myself.
#7
Amazing quality mp3 player in this phone. It will have no problems matching (or exceeding) the sound quality in your dedicated mp3 player.

This phone is unlocked and unbranded. My girlfriend has it and uses her T-Mobile SIM plus I've used my o2 one on it.

No Vodafone firmware either.

100% confirm this.

Do not use Dial a phone. They send refurbished phones and their service is terrible. They don't reply emails and didnt even give me a full refund!

i bought mine from phones4u website on monday on vodafone payg for £199.95 and I confirm it does not require purchase of £10 topup (see link 3rd option).

quidco tracked £10, order delivered tuesday by special delivery.

phone from phones4u is basically SIM FREE (unlocked to all networks and no vodafone firmware/logos etc). also comes with a voucher for 63 movies to download and view on the phone

I can also confirm that the phone is 100% unbranded and unlocked when I brought mine for £199 a few months back.
#13
This is a super phone. Bought mine at Phones 4u for £200. Really well made and the iPlayer functionality (live tv and radio, download tv and radio) is superb - almost unlimited high quality content for free. And push email via gmail is free and works well.

Decent, but what's do good about this phone? I bought a HTC Magic recently for less and it does a hell of a lot more. Don't know about you guys but I still prefer my audio on a dedicated mp3/iPod (nano for me). I suppose it will have a great camera.
#15
assume this one isn't now available on Voda as can't find it on the site anywhere
#16
Get a android phone (tmobile pulse or similar) rather than this...

The one I bought from Phones 4u was unlocked and unbranded and I use it with a Vodafone SIM.

Pulse is a decent phone but it is horses for courses. If you want to see how good the iPlayer support on the w995 is look here:
http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/mobile/mobile_phone

w995 has real keys not touchscreen, better build quality, better camera, better mp3 player, better iplayer, better shape, 8gb card rather than 2gb, better headphones, 3.5mm jack, unlocked, unbranded. It is a reliable phone. Scores 9/10 on user reviews on T-mobile website:
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/phones/pay-monthly/sony-ericsson/w995/overview/

Pulse has touchscreen if you like them and an interesting operating system to play with on cheap hardware with poor call quality, camera and battery life. It is a gadget and comes locked and branded. Scores 7.4/10 on T-mobile website:

the 10% does not work, so would need to change tthe title to reflect the true price
#20
I am looking at buying one for myself but im O2. I see a few people have said in this thread that they come unlocked and unbranded. Can i just confirm that is true of both the vodafone and orange payg handsets?

Also does anyone know if the Tmobile ones standard unlocked too?

Thanks all
#21
I very much doubt if the t-mobile one will be unlocked. but the ones from dialaphone & phones 4 u have been up to now.

the dialaphone discount code has expired now so the best bet if you want one of these is to go to phones 4 u and if you dont want the £10 air time go for the voda option 3 @ 199.95 delivered.

Where can one get a HTC Magic at a comparable price to this?

I'd have to echo this - the pulse is slow and its drawbacks are annoying.

Does anyone know if a Vodafone handset will be unlocked when ordering from Dial-a-phone?

Thanks.

I have a O2 sim can I watch iplayer? I read on http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/help/mobile/mobile_phone
that # Stream catch-up TV (3G): Watch catch-up TV programmes while connected to the internet over a 3G connection - only available to contract customers on 3 UK and Vodafone networks at present.
# Stream live TV: Watch live TV over Wi-Fi or 3G (contract customers on Vodafone or 3 networks only).

Is this because the network don't like you doing or does it not let you? I know one person with this phone on orange and she can't get iplayer to work unless on wifi (but could when bought it) so I dunno if it is true or not.

Also is there any good camera cases for this phone? I have my phone in my pocket with my change and stuff and it really batters the hell out of phones 8-)
