Heh, we might have some rich people on HUKD. I remember watching Michael Macintyre talk about how he was trying to follow the "mobile phone retention instructions" on a website when he was on BBC's Mock the Week.

Michael - this is a great phone and you won't end up taking pictures of your ear. ;-)

£500 for a phone IMO you must be mad. You could buy a car for that price. probably a new one if you ask, as they can't shift them at the moment LOL

this phone has everything i want, especially the slide out keyboard

hope the camera and video is nice

will get this one on contract if it has nice reviews
#6
It will be significantly less to buy on a contract. I'm personally more tempted by the Touch HD, despite the lack of a slide-out keyboard.

Really nice phone , got everything you ever need

Quite strange but cheaper on the SE website

There is also a version that comes with the keyboard. Touch Diamond Pro I think its called.

Not surprised Duckys "dream phone" is chilly. That's some price tag!

Not quite. The Touch pro doesn't have that amazing screen.

Voting cold purely because it's £480 at SE.

hey ducky, your the duck in the know - whats the best (reasonably priced) SE fone for mobile internet usage.

I got a stinky w910i on contract which I wanna ditch - I got the free internet upgrade on my contract btw.

All I want is a new SE fone I can whack my existing contract sim into.

The Xperia would be lovely - but I would probably break it at work lol.

[SIZE="5"][SIZE="4"]Saw it yest @ CPW , rather neat compact form factor.
Excellent build Quality
By the way this is not a SONYERIC OEM Phone . It's actually manufactured by HTC who also happen to manufacture the Google Phone for Tmobile !!

Eh? You said "I'm personally more tempted by the Touch HD, despite the lack of a slide-out keyboard." I mentioned the keyboard model is soon to be available.

Whats that got to do with the screen? (which are the same on both versions of the Touch Diamond)

The Touch HD is nothing to do with the Diamond. The Touch HD has an 800 x 480 screen, as does the Xperia X1. The Touch Pro has a 640 x 480 screen.

The phone is only manufactured by HTC. All the design work was done by Sony Ericsson.

Ever tried using one? Low screen resolution, woeful GPRS connection, slow, buggy, single instance browser, webpage rendering issues, no Web2.0 support (eg: YouTube).

I class no YouTube as a blessing!

This phone does not have everything

No DAB
No DVB

Come on my virgin lobster had DAB.
And N96 Eten glofish have digital TV.

Yes Nokia N96 has a form of DVB, just a shame its DVB-H which most countries do not broadcast, meaning we are paying to have a feature that can't be used in the country of purchase great. The reviews seam to echo the opinion the N96 is not a vast improvement over N95 8GB and suffers slowdown due to the slower processor to increase battery life, it is surely not worth forking out the asking price or signing up to a long unfair contract for.

As for DAB true its missing from the Xperia, but most phones do not have it, look at the Iphone for example and that has been popular. Also the way things are going with the colapse of the second Mux it seams like its fighting a losing battle with FM and internet radio anyway.

I just care about the best technology and from what i have seen from the Xperia it is looking very promising. The fact its manufactured by HTC is already a good start.

I commute and have done for years.
My musts are a 3.5mm headphone socket and/or a2dp stereo.
I use my phone as my mp3/radio . I would never carry a Personal media player and a phone.

Fm on a moving train is patchy on my route, DAB is much more successful.
Interestingly the DAB chipset has been out there for mobiles for years.
Sony once announced models with DAB but none surfaced.
I think this may be due to the fact that analogue FM is more of worldwide standard than DAB with its national variants and spectrum allocation.
