Small is beautiful with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini mobile phone, which packs a incredible amount of features into a compact frame.

Based on Sony Ericsson's much praised Xperia X10, the Mini version claims to be the world's smallest Android phone.

The X10 Mini has a 2.55in QVGA touch screen, with shortcuts in each corner to make it easier to use with one hand, and a slide-out keyboard for easy message typing.

Measuring just 8.3 x 5 x 1.6cms, you've still got plenty of connectivity via 3G, HSDPA and WiFi, so you can e-mail, browse the web, watch YouTube and much more.

Sony Ericsson's incredibly user-friendly Timescape app brings together all your communication sources in one place - at a glance, you can see text messages, missed calls, and Facebook and Twitter updates.

The 5 mega-pixel camera with auto-focus lets you capture photos and video clips.

Enjoy your music on the move with the built-in music player and FM radio. The 'infinite button' also pulls together music content from the music store and YouTube.

You can access the Android Market to download thousands of games and apps to customise your Xperia X10 Mini.

This stylish mobile phone comes with a 2GB microSD memory card and you can expand up to 16GB.

Built-in GPS means the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 can locate your position and work as a sat nav device when linked up with Google Maps.

actually playing with a loan one at the moment
screen resolution isn't that great at all
runs android 1.5 so some apps designed for eclair don't show in market
also you only get the standard 0-9 keyboard although you can install "scandinavian keyboard" ( choose english in the setup) or install smart keyboard pro lite .. you should then have a full QWERTY keyboard a your disposal. with the qwerty keyboard running T9 can be a bit iffy

battery is built in & battery-life is not too good
turn off 3g , wifi , location , gps etc to boost battery life

also install automatic task killer , cache mate , juice defender to improve battery life
automatic task killer wont show up in android 1.5 market , but the apk can be bluetoothed from a phone running eclair upward

yeah just bluetooth apps you require that wont shown up in the 1.5 android market

overall very compact ...looks like an mp3 with a built in phone!!

by the way also £199 instore @ the Carphone

Sorry, don't understand this. The photo shows a slide-out qwerty keyboard, but yet darklight says you only get the standard 0 -9 one?

People are generally cautious about using Littewoods/Very group as they tend to reject the codes/vouchers later.

Ah, Ok.

I've used them a couple of times so far with no trouble. I must be one of the lucky ones!!

0-9 (abc) OS numberpad
as stated earlier some 3rd party OSK work ok
" smartkeyboard pro lite "
"scandinavian keyboard ( select english)"
"handcent keyboard" simply won't show despite being selectable from "input" menu.
also T9 not working very well with3rd party KB
beware though very small screen & above KB's occupy a sizeable area
You do have a hard keyboard though so may not matter much if you don't mind sliding it out all the time

X10 mini ( but with an external keyboard)
current 1.5/1.6 wont show all apps in the market .
some apps therefore currently need to be installed as apk files with astro et al after transferring via bluetooth or usb
also QVGA graphics terrible..you can actually see the vertical striations in the LCD!
all said dinky enough device to carry around but defo won't be buying!

Plenty of Demos on Youtube for this little phone.

I think it looks great for all im gonna be using it for!

I especially like the sat nav feature and its also got a very useful light.

Review at gsmarena.com says its a good enough phone.

Anyway, we're here for 'hot deals' and i cant believe this hasn't gotten hotter !!

Always been good here too. Most are wary from other peoples stories of other peoples mis-use.
Had some real bargains from them. X-Box elite was the best, £129 about 18mnths ago. Was £139 with vouchers and they advised me i was entitled to another £10 off, so was happy with the customer service too, which gets a roasting on here too.

In the end, it's a great price for a budget smartphone. Hawt!

Yes, but that's for an inferior model which doesn't have the full QWERTY keyboard, so you're hardly making a fair comparison.

That sounds complicated just to get a phone working out of the box :?

I'm beginning to think that it's turning into speculation that's just repeated on here everytime the company comes up, as on another forum I'm on, people used a code to get the xbox live points dirt cheap and no one heard anything back. I'm sure a few years back there were a few cases of the money being clawed back, but haven't heard of it happening in a while?
#19
Hot from me , I will vote anything with Android hot .
#20
Battery CAN be removed on the PRO version btw ;-)
#21
can you get this on ORANGE?
#22
Never realised you could get these with slide out qwerty.

My missus really wants a phone similar to mine, how would this compare with the Motorola Milestone(what I have) in terms of perfromance and keyboard?

Obviously much smaller and lighter which I think would only be a good thing.

Also, you will be able to upgrade to android 2.1 by the end of the year:

I have been looking for a candybar style phone since my legendry K750i broke however had a play with this phone and was sold. Unlike most SE phones, I could not find a way to turn on the light independently of the camera/video. Does anybody know if this is possible??
#25
anyone know if you can get it on orange? many thanks
#26
Seems like a decent price for a new-ish phone but the topic is misleading as this is an O2 PAYG handset and is therefore most likely network locked.

Personally I had an X1 for a few months last year and hated it so I'm strictly an iPhone person now but anybody buying this should be aware that there may be additional charges and difficulty involved.

I used one to get Heavy Rain for £30 at launch and never had any trouble but I try to avoid using them whenever possible.

Unfortunately the launch prices for that game were absolutely outrageous so I was left with pretty much no other option if I wanted when it came out.

hot from me.

Does anyone know when this will be available with contract?

Seen this phone yesterday in the Carphone Warehouse when i went in asking about the Iphone 4.
Its a really neat little phone and the guy got one out the back to let me have a play with. Looks good feels good, small, and light. The slide out QWERTY keyboard is really nice and responsive.
Its £199.95 on O2 pay and go in the Carphone Warehouse which usually sell the handsets unlocked in my experience, which is perfect for my simplicity.
I've had a sleep on it and a little look on the net for reviews etc but as it only came out in the last few days there isn't much to go by other than my play with it and the reviews of the non pro non qwerty version. Incidently the reviews on the non pro gives it 4 out of 5 with the only downfall being its not hd video and it doesn't have a qwerty keyboard. This pro version does have a qwerty keyboard, and i'm not sure about the video, which i think still could be the only thing letting it down.
I've looked on the net at android apps and can get all i will need including a sports tracker application for running outside etc.
All round looks like a nice phone and does the job...i'm thinking of going this instead of shelling out £500 for an IPhone.
I might just go the carphone warehouse just to have it from a shop and not very. H&R though!
Cracking little phone!

The Xperia X1 had Windows Mobile 6 this has Android 1.6.... You are comparing a phone that was £400 to this £200 against a £500 IPhone 4?

If your order status at Very says 'credit rejected' does it mean that the order is cancelled? Thanks.

No actually I'm comparing a phone which I got free from the network (X1) to the iPhone 3G that I traded it for against this cheaper one and I seem to remember the X1's value dropping very quickly.

Without paying though? As that is the big problem when it comes with a lot of modern handsets, excluding the iPhone.

My girlfriend needed her Tocco unlocked and we ended up having to take it a chinese place near Leicester Square because you couldn't unlock it without either an NS pro-type device or paying some idiot £12-20 online for a unique IEMI based code.
#38
i would pay the bit extra to get the sim free version just make it a lot easier when u swap networks and also makes it easier to sell on

btw heat added for the find
