Hi,
This is my first post :-)

I bought one of these flash guns a few months ago and I just noticed AMAZON have reduced the price again.

Don't be fooled into thinking this is a small discount, cheapest this is available elsewhere is about £190 ish most prices are over £200. Says they have 7 in stock. When I bought mine I got the last one and it took weeks before they were back in stock and were full RRP again.

IMHO if you want a half decent flash to match your SONY DSLR can't do much better as an entry level flash

I voted hot because you are new and seem to know what you are talking about. I know nothing about flash guns ;-)

Doubtful, it's a Sony flash designed for Sony DSLR's. You may be able to get an adaptor but you'd lose a lot of functionality.

Got one of these last Christmas. Brilliant flash gun - wireless setting works well. If you can wait until this Christmas (or just before usually) then if its the same as last year the price drops anyway and Sony offer cash back. Got mine for £129 at JacobsDigital plus £30 cash back from Sony plus Quidco. Paid around £90, so worth waiting and chancing it if you can. Ofcourse, cant guarantee it'll happen or the price will drop, so seems the best price around if you want one now.

Anyone tried 3rd party flashes like Bower?

Have the Sony a300 DSLR. Presume this makes a big difference in low light (indoors) than the built in flash?

Yes makes a huge difference. Bounce takes a little practice but really helps get rid of shadows using flash in low light
