Was looking at the Giga Juke a few months back, seems a decent system and now at a decent price.

How bizaare, I decided yesterday I wanted this system, ordered this morning from Amazon, only just logged on to Amazon to check it's been despatched. Popped on to Hotukdeals for a look and its the top item! Have some heat!!!

The dock for sony walkmans is on the top of the unit, the ipod dock is seperate as pictured.

I'm not sure the addon unit works with this as its not the high end NAS model?

Good Stuff, hopefully it does work though - I have my doubts because of the lack of wifi in this or any mention in the manual. But fingers crossed.

will it read and play from another USB HDD?

80gig is too small.

This isn't the wireless model, so can't work with wireless Music Client's or access music on your pc, so not really wireless!

Excellent spot there :) Certainly doesn't make it such a great deal IMO.

...and your point is ?...as this makes it MORE than the OP's post ?!
#20
Considering the 160gb model is almost £600 from the same retailer, and the nearest rival is the Brennan which sells for a high price without speakers or DAB / Gracenote etc...this seems to be a bargain. As the price keeps dropping, will watch for a while in case it gets even lower ! Heat added naturally OP

Looks like you're right about this. It's definitely a curse on the deal, since I'd have bagged the lot for our new place.

Thanks for the alert!

I have this (paid slightly more a couple of months ago on Amazon). It is a good player but copying stuff to the hard drive is very slow and awkward.

Ipod does connect using the dock as per the picture below (dock comes free within the box). And it does charge up within the dock as normal.

Worth the money, but if you are going to copy stuff the HDD then expect to be there for some time.

Very good deal

Seems the add on will work but I need to buy an AOSS USB Dongle (£11.99 at ebuyer) for it to work. Ordered it, so will update when arrives

Seems a few people have said it's slow copying accross. That won't bother though so long as it's fast scrolling through when on there....

Main selling point for me was the Sony walkman dock since I hate ipods it's great to have a device I can plug my sony walkman into

Link? Looked but cant see it..cheers

Got the dongle from ebuyer (it's the buffalo infiniti) and I can confirm it does work BUT you need to have the wireless dongle connected to the front of the giga juke as it doesn't have a rear USB port.

I also put my ipod dock on ebay (I have a sony walkman so don't need it) and it sold for £40 plus postage so got the stereo for £140 in the end... Sweet

Thanks for the link, very tempted now as been in to currys to have a play with the system itself, although sounded a bit 'tinny' and lacked any real bass. I guess this was as the equalizer had not been adjusted and the 'unhelpful' sales assistant could not find (couldn't be bothered as didn't even go and look) the remote control to adjust the bass/treble for me to listen to it with different settings.

Can anyone confirm that this system really does sound good as it sounded awful on whatever settings it was set to in the shop.

When you first get the system all treble, bass, mid are set to 0... I changed to Bass +4, Mid +2 Treble -2 and sounds like a full tone now.... Also got my dad one and sold the i[od dock on amazon for £46.99 (sold in a few hours) so if you don't want that part you get it for under £140... Bargain

I transfered 60gb of MP3's, I started it at 9pm last night and it was still going at 11pm so left it overnight and was all done by the morning, not sure exactly how long it took as I have no idea when it finished. I;ve changed it to folder view and it's real easy to view my music now.... Really like it

Oh, and am not that impressed with the add on though... I've sent that back, finding internet radio stations was a nightmare as took forever to load and also streaming music is fine but finding what you want is slow as you have to wait for the wifi to find the files first

Did you transfer it from a ext HD as have read that its not possible to do this on this machine? Says you have to do it with a usb memory stick, although I have about the same amount of music - 60gb, and like the idea of transferring straight from my HD rather than HD to mem stick to Giga Juke....

interesting to hear about the selling of the ipod dock as I am not interested in that either. Just need to convince the wife this is what we NEED:D
