Just a pointer for anyone considering this model from family experience : its windscreen cradle/mount is quite a complex/fiddley/wobbly thing and not really suited to removing from the screen. My folks attribute the cradle's presence to a break in to their car :?

So do CONSIDER the cradle as well as the Sat Nav unit itself.

Mind you we don't know what other "cradles" are like - other than the really neat/simple Garmin Streetpilot i3 where it is little more than a suction pad out of the back of the unit.

Can I point out one VERY important fact, Sony are not supporting new maps/POI etc for this unit - I received an email from Sony yesterday about this.

They are classing this as an old model!!!

Major problem is that I noticed some roads not listed that have been around for over 3 years and appear on the original tomtom5! POI are completely out of date - petrol station at the bottom of my road hasnt been there for over 7 years

I took mine back yesterday to another popular shop! for this reason.

On the plus, if this doesnt bother you, the unit is a great unit to use, great visual, quite loud when plugged in, easy to use, so Good find.

shame about Sony support - the update that I was told was the absolutely up to date is older than the one of my system!!

I think the Amazon one has the TMC bundle.

This is a very good price for it but it does have very mixed reviews.

hi folks, a very good price if you want BASIC sat-nav'ing, but only partial postcode search abilities might prove very frustrating?

Have voted and repp'ed the OP, as this was a good find
#14
I understand the TMS unit is the up to date one, but I also heard that Sony are not making any further models and discounting this area, this could be hearsay though, didnt get that confirmed from sony yesterday

The tms allows for you to be re-routed FREE of charge, which I thought was good a bit like the built in sat nav where you call for your location

On a plus for a all singing sat nav, £400 buys the Snooper indago at oakland electronic with 5 year updates, built in speed camera updated daily, 5 year warranty (providing no one nicks it before hand) providing you trade in your old unit - so thinking about buying one and trading it in, as the 5 year deal costs far more than £99

It's a stab in the dark but if anyone's familiar with the Navman F20 perhaps they could tell me how to do a new address postcode search and add the house number?

I got one yesterday from Costco for £117 and it seems to choose a house number randomly which I then can't change.

Bizarrely, it also sets my home house number as 7 which I also can't change.

Missed the ones online, but rang John Lewis today in Norwich and they had 6 left, result! So I now have one.

BUT it will only recognise 4 postcode digits.

To the people who have this; and can input 7 digits; can you tell me what software and firmware version you are running?

From what information I had gathered these units were being replaced by new widescreen versions like TomTom and Garmin. Obviously with new features too.

It's not really worth it

No

As far as in know it's free for life

Mine came yesterday already had a go last night easy to set up not 7digit postcode search only 5 but once you type in the 5 digits it gives you the choice of the roads which have that postcode so did not make any difference.

No me thick does do 7digit postcode search but you must add the space EG RG21 3LT not RG213LT otherwise it stops letting you add digits
