`5xmas` comes out at £180.54 with free postage.

Seen alot of `quidco` posts but not sure what it is or wether it can be used here, maybe someone else can advise.

The 5xmas code covers anything giving 5% discount, but only until 10am today.

I'm afraid you can't have.

Damn, I bought one of these 2 months ago from Jessops for £211.. I posted it on here as I thought it was a great deal. So, obviously this is a great price.

I'm fairly pleased with the video camera itself. My only reservation with it is the picture quality ( even on its highest setting ) it does appear to have clusters of 'noise' when you stare closely.
I believe that this is only rectified when opting for a HD HDD camcorder instead.

I believe that all standard definition HDD camcorders have this issue due to the compression rates on the video recorded.

Note that this is just a 800,000 pixel camcorder (hence the price).

I bought the Sony DCR-SR62 model, also with a 30Gb hard disc, but with 1Mb pixel quality, touch screen menus, etc, for £350 earlier in the year.

If you do intend making home movies of your kids for future years, I would recommend spending a little extra money and going for a 1-Megapixel camcorder instead.

this is a good deal if your not fussed about human eye perfect picture quality. Good for your everyday or holidays recording. Only thing is, this model has been around for over 18+ mths. But on the plus side, it's got a sony badge and uses both the HDD or Memory stick Pro to record. BTW is this the DCR-35 or 36E model?

I've had a look on Quidco and this Dixons is not coming up as an affiliated merchant, sorry.

so he will be well chuffed, should make up for the fact it probably wont arrive for xmas :whistling:

The Sony badge doesn't mean it is better than anything else going.

Their new tvs suffer from clouding.
The UK str-da3400es av-amps have all the important features removed that the USA get. Also 5400 has features removed.
They use only Sony memory cards which are more expensive - someone posted a link to get an adapter tor read sd-cards - don't think Sony like these adapters.
When we got the PS3 it was software only backwards compatible where as Japan and USA got hardware.

Encryption on their cds put software on your pcs without your permission - they got taken to court over that and had to replace cds.

Also for years Sony products have been cheaper in the USA with amps less than half price.

Dixons are no longer listed in Quidco..however, they are listed in topcashback.co.uk which is similar to Quidco.

Sony just don't produce goods to the high standard that they used to. Also, this camcorder has been this price before.
