Have been waiting for this TV to come down towards the £1000 mark and price has just dropped another £200 since yesterday. Cheapest I can find anywhere online even beating John Lewis price of £1199.

John Lewis Link: http://www.johnlewis.com/sony-bravia-kd49x8505-led-4k-ultra-hd-3d-smart-tv-49-nfc-with-freeview-hd-and-2x-3d-glasses/p1571162

Includes a 5 year Warranty but no longer includes the free HT-CT60BT Soundbar that it did before. This is on sale at Currys PC World separately for £94.99, which brings the total £1093.99 which is still cheaper than anywhere else. Might be worth getting getting a better soundbar though with the extra £100 as this one seems poor.

Don't forget Quidco and TCB tracking at 1.5% and 1.57% respectively.

Shame about the 2 legs at each end, the TV stand I have at the moment will be too small to accommodate these.

Agreed- hot price, awful design. Most people don't have a stand the length of the TV & I would best most who do have something in the gap like a bluray player etc.

I actually think you can move the legs towards the centre of the TV if you like and save a little space, but not 100% sure. I'll probably go and check whether you can or not in my local Currys store.

I have this TV. The stands can be mounted nearer the centre too. Check the manual.

I had the same issue until I discovered that. Nice TV. Had it a while now and originally paid £1399 for it. :(

I want it. I really want it. Wonder if the kids want their presents as much as I want this..?

In light of ability to move stand this is amazing!

Not keen on the design especially the legs & the fact that it's only 200hz makes watching live football dodgy but a very good price

I think screens native is like 60hz or something so 200hz and higher is just marketing tosh referring to interpolation using backlight scanning and frame insertion where the tv reproduces the scene x amount of times.

The feet defo move in to the centre to allow for a narrower stand.
Anyone with any concerns check it out on YouTube.

I am so tempted but only Netflix has 4K although my broadband is fibre so I guess it may be worth signing up. Any other way of getting 4K source? is the TV as good as some of the similarly prices Samsung models? I have a Sony Z1 phone and Z2 tablet so in theory all the mirroring and stuff is more seamless I guess?

One thing to remember about the feet is that if you move them to the centre of the TV they have to swap sides. Don't ask me why but I was confused for a while as I didn't find it that clear in the manual. Basically the left foot goes on the right side if using the alternative stand points.

Netflix 4K stuff is pretty good. There's not a lot of other 4K stuff around yet although there will be in time as Netflix has plans to increase the 4K content and their new TV series they are working on is 4K. YouTube does have a lot of 4K content though as well.

If you have a PS4 this works well with it too as with the HDMI link the remote for the TV can control the PS4 functions too. Handy if you are using the PS4 for video playback etc.

Also you can attached a HDD to this TV for recording from Freeview HD. Unfortunately you can't copy those recordings off but still it's a nice feature although we use our TiVo instead. It's built in media player plays back most file formats also from DLNA source or from USB.

Would prefer JL 5-year cover. anyone tried a price match?
#14
Price match will 100% work I'm confident
But anyone tried O2 priority is that £100 off £1000 spend still flying around
Taking it to £899 would be fab

I bought this the other day and the legs can go in 2 positions. On the outside or in the middle I have my ones in the middle

Seriously with all the issues that plague TV's (banding, DSE, torchlight effect, dead/stuck pixels) you do not want to deal with currys PC world customer service, get it price matched at John Lewis, 5 year guarantee and amazing customer service.

I went through 4 Samsung F8000 TV's until I got a perfect one, John Lewis didnt question me or moan once just happily collected the TV for free and swapped for a brand new one everytime.

Heat added, great price, just use it to your advantage and go with a JL pricematch (_;)

what was wrong with you're F8000 as I have the same tv and experiencing difficulties & also from John Lewis

First one had horrible banding, (dark stripes down the screen, really visible on panning shots) the 2nd hadn't been put together right, the chrome trim on the bottom was wonky, 3rd had a bunch of dead pixels and banding, 4th had a vibrating speaker, 5th was absolutly perfect, glad I went through all the stress as its an EPIC TV, John Lewis were fantastic, I'm picky and wanted perfection for £1200 (I got the 55F8000)

Funnily enough even though a sound bar isn't included, I went on the hunt for one and found the Sony HT-CT370 2.1 (link below):

http://www.johnlewis.com/sony-ht-ct370-2-1-bluetooth-sound-bar-with-nfc-wireless-subwoofer/p1461070?sku=233545394&kpid=233545394&s_kenid=12ceaa98-4f1b-0fe8-3212-000046652a70&s_kwcid=402x36007&tmad=c&tmcampid=73&kpid=233545394

Its priced at £239.00 pretty much everywhere and is much better than the £95.00 Sony HT-CT60BT 2.1 Soundbar. So got John Lewis to do a further discount on top of the price match and they have included the sound bar too with the TV for a total of £1113.05! (Saving of £124.05 off the sound bar!) Great if definitely wanted one and this price can't complain. Email below:

Thank you for your email.

As we have already accepted a price match for the Sony Bravia KD49X8505 3D 49" Smart TV, we are able to include the Sound Bar at a price of 114.05 as part of the Johnlewis Promotion. This means that if you purchase this bundle, we will be able refund you the difference of £200, bringing your total to £1113.05.

To place this order with us please visit our website. When you have received your items and are satisfied with your purchase, please let me know by return email and I will process a refund of the price difference of £200. In your email, please quote your order number.

Once you contact us to confirm that you are happy with your goods, we will process your refund and you will see this in your account within five working days. If PayPal is used then please be aware the refund can take up to 28 days to show in your account. You will not need to take any further action.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,

To be honest I have never found an inanimate object "sexy" sounds like a very peculiar fetish lol

Does this (infact any 4k TV) improve the quality of HD (1080p) and SD viewing experience?

Sorry if it sounds stupid but I know nothing about these
#38
I do wish these new TV's would SWIVEL !!
#39
okay, so I know people are saying no point buying a 4k TV as there isn't enough content to justify it...but my gaming PC is plugged into my main TV and I have a good GPU, will I notice any improvement in gaming etc?

If you are serious about TV's then a good wall bracket will have a swivel function but a good TV stand with a raised TV mount will have an excellent swivel.

If you are being comedic then carry on with your remark LOL.
