Good deal....especially with the warranty..........!
#2
Might be wrong, but is this the same priced one as Richer Sounds post but with longer guarantee? And are they (Sony) still giving you VAT back?
#3
I think VAT back ends today.

Yep Vat back ends today

So best deal currently is Sainsburys online deal at 329.99 with vat back

Brilliant deal - good stocks usually in Sony Centres opposed to RS, and with freeview HD and 5 year warranty I am very tempted!
#6
Very interested in this but after calling my Sony Centre they know nothing about it...

Any chance you can post a copy of the leaflet?
#7
Can you order this online or is it instore only??

Sony centres are mostly franchises, so not all offers will be the same at all branches.

I got this tv when it was 350 at costco.

Well worth it! very good quality and the menu system is amazingly intuitive and for they i have to say its the best you can buy.

Great TV, got one in the summer for £329. Despite firmware updates, the usb connection for watching movies etc.. is very poor. Encoded avi, divx, mpg4 still plays only 1 in 10, frustrating.
The HD freeview and picture are superb, with very good sound.
At this price, its a steal.

How good is this TV as a PC monitor for normal use (not gaming) ?
#12
I work in a Sony Centre, the 32ex403 will be £369 with a 5year, some stores might run £349 but £299 would be very hard with a 5year from Sony as dealers have to pay for it.

just ordered mine from sainsburys but thats only because of my staff discount, hopefully the receipt will be dated 24th :-), so i can claim the vat back aswell

but this is a superb offer, only yesterday sainsburys were selling this for around £450

John,
Sainsbury's have had this at £330 online since yesterday and VAT can be claimed back, making ti £280. Is 5 year warranty worth £20? Definitely, but only if you can actually buy it for £300 at Sony Centres or RS!
#17
does sainsbury's come with any guarantee?
banned#18
bad link?
#19
Sainsburys has Manufacturer's guarantee 1 year

Only just noticed the price change for the tv from sainsburys today, been keeping an eye on it,

they have some 40 inch sonys "bx440" on january sale now, not sure but i think i was told £400, but there isn't a lot of information on these, think its this one http://www.sony.com.my/product/klv-40bx400 , went for the 32" instead which at least has some decent reviews...and staff discount knocked £50 off which is a bonus :-)

Anyone know if this will stream HD MKV files over NLDA?

Might be cos it's from a leaflet according to OP, and cos it's not from Boxing Day, again, according to OP.

Don't wanna be all Grinch-like but i have reported this thread and asked for it to go to misc until it's confirmed. No offence but there's not tangible, visible proof, at least from what i can see......

I bought 2 of these for £349 and £339 from PRC and RGB, in the last 6 months. One of them is connected to my PC and its very good.

Some adverse reviews on AVforum when this came out. I have had no issues with it.

Richer sounds have this for £299 on boxing day but the 5 year warranty is an extra £30 but worth a mention :)

I use Mezzmo media streaming software on my computer and it plays anything I chuck at it over the network (wired). It transcodes it on the pc to a format the tv can play.
You can get a free 15 day trial after that it costs $30.

Not much chance of that as I don't think any Sony will do it. They're playing catchup tv!!
#28
I was tempted on buting this TV last week in the high street, first place I saw had it for £382 with the Vat back which i thought was good for a shop.
Decided to wait, and glad I did, will call Sony Centre on boxing day to confirm what they are selling it for, if it's more than £330 i'll try richer sounds instead

hot price

"Easy Wi-Fi access to online content and services"

Does anyone know what services do they speak of and also I gather you have to buy an official USB dongle for the TV?

Shame. Do any of the major brands do it? I've got a Cello 22" for the kitchen that does, but would like something bigger and better quality for the bedroom and conservatory.

Im looking for a 32" tv, its either this or the Sainsburys deal, anyone know if this is genuine? Will i get the VAT back on the Sainsburys deal?

I'd go for this deal if I were you, Sainsburys don't offer the 5 year warranty, & if you're ordering online then you won't get the VAT back. I've just spent half an hour talking to their customer service reps, & decided that I'd rather wait 2 days & get this offer.

This is £289.95 instore at Richer Sounds from boxing day if you use the £10 voucher for becoming a free vip member.

Just spotted this deal.
Have to take a risk losing the VAT back on the Sainsburys deal (£280 with 1 year warranty) for the 5 year guarantee on this deal at £300.
If the Sony deal doesn't materialise then I can hopefully fall back on the Richer Sounds at £330 including their 5 year warranty.
I just hope John Lewis would reduce their price to a similar level. :)

Not quite sure why posters think they won't get the vat back from buying online at Sainsburys, the sony website says very clearly that the deal is applicable online from a range of retailers including Sainsburys. The vat deal finishes today, and brings the price down to £280 which is pretty amazing. Given the uncertainty that Sony stores will really offer this TV at £299 including a 5 year warranty, I've placed an order... amazingly low price for this level of technology and brand.
#37
my sainsburys one has dispatched allegedly and thats from ordering at 11am today, so my invoice should say 24th and be valid for a VAT rebate

Hi jcat, I ordered about the same time as you and also recieved an email saying mine is dispatched. Happy watching!

Unless I have missed something, two items could prevent you from getting the VAT back:

1) The offer states the purchase must be done on the 24th, depending on how Sainburys bill you, this might be a problem.
2) The VAT back form states that the form must be sent by the 31st, are you confident that you will get the TV (and point 1 is OK) and get the form off before then? Although they say post, I can guess they will mean "received by us by 31st" so you will have to fight for that, too.

If so, it might be OK. To me, it depends on how things go between 26th and the 31st as to whether you can get it back.
