Description
Designed to look as good as the pictures they produce, the new S series BRAVIA LCD TVs are impressive even before you switch them on. Ultra slim, they feature VESA compliant mounting so they can be easily and safely hung on a wall, like a painting, or stood on their custom-designed swivel stands.

BRAVIA is fast becoming synonymous with outstanding quality of colour and clarity of detail: a picture so good it enhances the viewing experience, no matter what you like to watch. BRAVIA televisions are HD Ready and some are able to display 1920 x 1080 resolution High Definition pictures in their full detail. There?even a choice of colours for certain models.

Every model within the BRAVIA range features a built-in digital terrestrial tuner (Freeview) and also receives analogue. Some models have two HDMI sockets for enhanced connectivity. Choose the BRAVIA that?right for you. Choose an experience like no other.

I've added a price and retailer name to the thread title, and an image. Thanks.
#2
Voted Hot, this is a very good spec tv and for this price is very good value.

Good range of inputs and great contrast ratio (even though I assume it's dynamic contrast ratio).

This + PS3 + GTA4 in time for the may day weekend ... could be a plan.

I was looking at digital direct for a different telly last night, even though the prices are keen its worth having a look at the del cost too, for example its £29.99 on this tv, making the whole thing £414.90.

all the best

Has anyone seen this running side by side against a similar priced Samsung equivalent ?
And if so, is there any noticable difference ?
#7
thats a great price. Is it a good spec though and not just buying it coz it says sony?
#8
I was thinking of getting an LCD Tv but don't know a lot about them. From what I have read Samsung seem to be one of the better ones. Does any know if this one is as good as a Samsung ? Can anyone confirm that this set has Freeview built into it ?

Here are some reviews I have found

http://hdtvorg.co.uk/news/articles/2007122402.htm

everyone on here seems happy with their buy

- Samungs do not compare to Sony's when it comes to LCD TV.
- Of course this has Freeview built in - google around mate! Jeez
- A good thread on this telly here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=642001

I bought this TV back in December (I think?) with a Free 5 year waranty for around £480 and I'm very happy with it.

Apologies if I have mis-read the post, but I can't see any vouchers/explanation for free delivery.

I believe HUKD convention is to include the delivery costs in the pricing, so the headline needs adjusting.

At 415, I don't know that it remains hot (although Quidco may just swing it for people)...

Does it come with a warranty of any sort?

I'm thinking of getting a new Sony Bravia LCD TV but want a decent warranty. John Lewis give free 5 years warranties on all their TVs which is v.good! I'd pay more to get a warranty like that!

Still a good deal though - voted hot!

Currently, SonyStyle is giving free 5 years warranty on any TV purchase. https://www.sonystyle.co.uk/catalog/47/47C7A70F7B0100F6E10080002BC29B85.pdf

for a second i thought it was full 1080p, but still this is a good deal because it isn't a U series.

they are asking £599 for this telly
#15
It is not only for SonyStyle orders. The T&C says all participating stores. So it may be worth checking the online retailer in case they participate or help to get the warranty.
#16
I've got the 26" version of this - great bit of kit
#17
what would be the equivalent 32" tv in a panasonic please? Would it be the LXD70 which is now being replaced or the LMD70? Thank you
#18
It would probably be the LMD70, yeah. The LXD70 is a premium set, an equivalent to the Sony D3000.
#19
what is the difference - is this full 1080p or not? Do you really notice a dfiference?
#20
It's 720p / 1080i, not 1080p.

At 32" you are not going to notice unless you sit closer than 5 or 6 feet from the screen.

A strong point is the good quantity of inputs, and the brand name/design.
#21
Had this for about 6 months now. At the price it is really good value. When compared with my Pioneer plasma pic quality is not as good and there is some motion blur watching motor racing etc but otherwise a good picture. Remote not as easy to use as Pio but SWMBO likes it so maybe it's just me! It's also available in Costco with 3 yr guarantee for about £450.
As with all TVs make sure that you set it up properly and don't just leave the settings same as it comes out of the box.
#22
My mate brought the 37" from play.com

My couins are looking for a t,v may suggest this to them.
#23
can this tv be wall mounted?

does it have the 4 holes that let you mount it to a tv mounting bracket?

thanks for any help
#24
yes its wall mountable.
#25
Got this set yesterday and it is Amazing. Picture is as crisp as you could wish for. Sound is also excellent. So many options still to play with. Lots of inputs. Watched football last night on built in freeview and didn't notice any motion blur. Easily set up in minutes and All channels picked up as well. Played dvd thru hdmi and this is where it really shows its quality. Recommended without doubt.:w00t:

How's the S O U N D ?

That's often the big letdown on an otherwise handsome flatscreen.

If you read the AVForums thread I've linked to above you'll find that it requires a Vesa 200x200 mount.
#28
I bought this from Edgware HiFi last weekend, £405, but I did pick it up- uncertain what the delivery charge is though.

Sound is very good especially on the BBE Viva setting. Of course does not compare with a 5:1 surround sound system. Certainly powerful enough for an average size living room. Have read several reviews on Samsungs and the sound from them ain't that good.
