The HD Ready 1080p BRAVIA V4000 Series LCD TVs with Freeview come fully loaded with technology in a stunning new design. BRAVIA Engine 2 works to maximise the potential from any signal and, coupled with a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 33,000:1, delivers an excellent viewing experience whatever you are watching.

HD1080p

HD 1080p offers you very high resolution to generate it’s picture. The ‘p’ stands for ‘progressive scan’, which scans all the lines at once to add stability & smoothness to fast-moving images. This makes 1080p TV’s excellent for sport broadcast & games.

Integrated Digital Tuner / Freeview
Having an integrated Digital Freeview Tuner means that your TV has a built in receiver that will give you access to many more channels without the need to have any additional hardware, such as a Freeview box. In 2007, the government began switching UK broadcasting to digital, so if your TV doesn’t have an integrated digital tuner feature you wont be able to view any channel without buying the additional hardware.

BRAVIA Engine 2
You can’t have too much of a good thing, so we designed BRAVIA ENGINE 2. By using our most innovative technologies like intelligent noise reduction and Advanced Contrast Enhancer, BRAVIA ENGINE 2 builds on the power of the acclaimed BRAVIA ENGINE and adds four new image processing stages. What’s more, BRAVIA ENGINE 2 incorporates full digital signal processing, which means that it can enhance many different signals.

Dynamic Contrast
Contrast ratio is improved and all shades between the brightest white and the darkest blacks are maintained, so the picture has more depth and detail.

This is achieved as the backlight brightness adjusts according to the brightness of the scene. Sony’s unique dynamic contrast system features ACE (advanced contrast enhancer) which ensures all of the subtle shades of grey are maintained. The V4000 Series delivers a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 33,000:1.

BRAVIA Sync
BRAVIA Sync enables the control of your TV and peripheral devices with a single BRAVIA remote through menus displayed on your BRAVIA LCD TV.

It is supported by selected Sony Home Theatre Systems, Blu-ray Disc players, Audio/Video Receivers and Handycam®. Please check the specification of your other Sony products to ensure that it includes BRAVIA Sync.

HDMI Sockets
The V4000 Series has 3 X HDMI Sockets – 2 at the rear of the set & one at the side.

Your HDMI socket provides a connection point on your TV that is able to deliver a high definition picture. Quite simply, the more HDMI sockets that you have on your BRAVIA LCD TV, the more components you are able to link up to for HD picture quality, for instance, a Blu-ray player, your camcorder and your gaming console. Having the socket located in the front of the TV means that you no longer have to get into awkward positions or move the unit in order to gain access to the connection point, great if you’re viewing your photos on your TV via your digital camera.

Photo TV HD
Photo TV HD picture processing technology designed to faithfully reproduce the natural beauty of your still images when viewed on your HD Ready 1080p BRAVIA LCD TV. Whereas all other TVs have technology designed to optimise video images, the BRAVIA V4000 has BRAVIA Engine 2 for viewing videos and Photo TV HD for viewing still images.

In order to enjoy PhotoTV HD, the PhotoTV HD-compatible TV and device need to be connected either with component or HDMI. Connection through component requires the user to manually select the Photo picture mode. When connected via HDMI, the television will automatically switch to Photo mode.

24P True Cinema
'24p True Cinema' mode, is a perfect match for movies. Film is shot at 24 frames per second, but UK televisions operate at 25 frames per second. This means that when you watch a movie on DVD, you are seeing it sped up by 4 per cent. '24p True Cinema' enables the panel to display films at their intended 24fps (frames per second).

My review:

Just want to give my initial feedback on this TV.

Bought from M&S last night. It's fantastic - HD is stunning (although i've only tried some 2 minute 1080p video clips to test the full HD functionality!

I have been using my xbox 360 to pipe it dvd's and games like gears of war 2 (which only outputs at 720p). Until I move into my new house on Friday, I Will not be able to fully test the HD glory (will be hooking it up to a media centre PC and streaming 1080p content), but I say this is a fantastic buy - get it while you can!

M&S are still selling the 37v4000 for one hundred pounds more!

I know this is not currently available online with a 5 year warranty, but it should be later (from JL). Also, just call your local and arrange it that way!

Like i already said in other posts ill back up the above by also saying this range is stunning. Just got 2 x 26" of these V4000s for my kids and they are exceptional. Picture quality is second to none, and thats without the full 1080p of this big brother. My nippers got his PS3 pumping out at 720p on his and its superb. Viewing angles are amazing compared to other sets i compared with in the flesh... and i did compare quite a lot believe me. Highly recommended LCD and soooooo sexy looking !

Thanks for that. Glad you are pleased with it. I got mine ordered from JL this morning. They were in stock for about 10 minutes before being sold out again. Still haven`t received the email from them to say that they were in stock, so my advice to anyone wanting this from JL is to visit their site online regularly to check.I was so lucky this morning and as soon as I seen it in stock I phoned them to make sure I got it right away.

This TV seems to have been posted loads at this price - most of them also included the fact that M&S and John Lewis were selling them with the 5 year warranty for £599. I know because I posted that :).

So, it's a hot deal but I can't vote it hot again.
#6
I vote hot from envy
Anyone want to buy me toshiba 44" rear projection tv?
#7
Did you mean the 5 year warranty isn't showing online or the TV itself?
It shows on JL website as out of stock but not on M&S at all?
#8
All M&S tvs come with 5 years
#9
How many M&S stores actually have these? I wasn't aware that M&S even sold TV's!
#10
John Lewis are the nuts for Customer Service.

Very nice TV for the price. I got the V3000 last year from JL and after calibration it's a superb picture.
Build quality is so much better than the Sammy's !!!

I heard this evening this is end of line - they're probably not going to be around for much longer - hense the current good price...

Don't wait around!
#15
I went to my local M&S last night and tried to negotiate a better price that £599 (If you don't ask you don't get...) but they wouldn't go any lower just saying the price on the ticket is what you pay.

They didn't have any in stock anyway, so I didn't push it further...
#16
already posted here a week ago -->sony deal

:whistling:
#17
doh!

Well at least mine mentions you can get them in M&S too :-P

Am I missing something here. I know its a bit early in the day for me BUT, how can you negotiate for a better price if they dont even have it!!!
#19

#20

Hope you`re still happy with yours. Mine comes on monday. I ordered the tv stand from ebuyer that was posted here and its coming today. Oh I luv this site. lol

It's gone on JL, but available on M&S again.

Typical, I could have got it cheaper - you can get 5% quidco on M&S, so the TV is £569.
#23
Back in stock at John Lewis this morning. Expired here but back in stock today.
#24
Yep back in stock
