Would this work out cheaper going through empiredirects checkout and using quidco? I'm correct in saying you don't get quidco going through google checkout right?

Not that I've tried but I also noticed a couple of voucher codes for empiredirect one for £5 off another for 2%, dunno if they work but that would certainly make it cheaper going through empiredirect checkout.

One last question, is delivery still free if you go via google checkout?

i ordered this tv yesterday - it's a fantastic television and gets excellent reviews..though expect online retailers to quickly fall in line as it seems to be derived from official sony price cuts.

also note that it is DEFINITELY worth getting the extra 3 years warranty at only 19.99 - if you use the 2% code and 2% quidco (as i did) the warranty is effectively free.

my total purchase price - with quidco & 3 year warranty - will be £546.46

I'm looking into the john lewis price match option which would give a 5 guarantee for free. Just waiting on some feedback over on AV forums.

Yes technically £1 cheaper with Quidco but not everyone uses it and it doesn't always track so personally I'd use Google Checkout. You could get it for £533 with Quidco and the £5 voucher but again this relies on Quidco working with the voucher etc etc.

I agree, the Samsung has 1 more HDMI port and a better contrast ratio but the Sony is a Sony and offers better sound quality over the Samsung which is it's main downfall -- this is nothing a decent surround system won't fix so essentially the choice between the 2 is down to personal preference, your need for 3 or 2 HDMI ports, other Samsung/Sony equipment you have and if you have an XBOX360 and want to run it with the Samsung in its game mode.
