quite deep for wall mounting IMO at 30cm

I prefer the LG 42LH4000 http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/539364/lg-42lh4000-42-lcd-full-hd-100hz-tv
which is £35 cheaper and is 42"

its not Sony though for folks hung up on 'fancy' brand names

Cold sorry, as I think the Panasonic 42" TV I've just posted is a better deal, for just £15 more!

There are better deals out there, but if you've got staff discount as well (@15% at the moment) then this is a great deal for £494.99 including the £15-off code, I think.

You cant compare deals on different sized TV's, as a 42" may be too big for someone that wants a 37".

Buy the 37" Panny instead then. Still a better TV

I've given this heat. I've been shopping round for a 37" TV as I don't really have the space to have anything bigger. Its only a £15 saving but its still pretty decent.

Is there a code for staff discount? Or is that being too cheeky?

That's being quite cheeky. No there's not a code, the person with the discount card has to ring up, quote the discount card details and it gets it added to their sainsbury's website account.
If you have a friend that has one though - if they go with you to a store, they may be willing to let you use their card to get it from a store at £509.99 (although technically that's gross misconduct as I've just been reminded).

Basically you can ignore everything above and the answer is no.

Cheers OP, I have just ordered one. I was going to order this from Sainsburys the other day but it was out of stock when I looked and was gutted! thought I had missed the boat and had to go traipsing round the stores to find one (which I don't have time to do). I had been looking for weeks for a better price on this particular model but wasn't aware of the £15 off voucher code. Thanks for your timely post!

Surely that 30cm includes the plinth though?
Otherwise that would be mad!!

Sorry, but buying Sony tvs has nothing to do with 'fancy brands'. Their picture always speaks for itself. I live in Spain and shop in local hypermarkets Hipercor and Carrefour and they always have a massive tv section with rows of tvs on display, and with my eyes the Sony Bravia pictures are light-years ahead of the rest for vivid colour and contrast. The W series (i.e this tv) was rigged up to a PS 3 last week and playing a blueray disk of some "Virtical Limit" type climbing film, and the sparkling ice face looked like you could reach out and touch it - staggeringly, sharp, detailed and lifelike. The Toshiba next to it was dull as dishwater in comparison. I'm only looking for a good TV deal on here for my dad by the way, as I still have a 21" TV that's 14 years old! What brand? Sony of course!!

It's a very nice tv - and there were another 7 left in stock in Kidlington last night!

I was viewing my holiday photos on it via a usb stick last night - and tonight I'm going to hook it up to my LAN.

Now hooked up the LAN and I can browse my NAS and the Vaio laptop from it.
Cool Beans!
