As every retailer seems to be going down to price around this mark I assume it is only for a few days or Sony are funding it to shift stock? Or is there a new model?

Just seems strange to see so many retailers bringing this one down while smaller size 403u's are more expensive and the same with 40" 401's being dearer too

By far one of the best Sony TV's out there, I bought one back in the Summer, With Freeview HD built right in its a steal, The built in speakers are not that hot though so you may want to reserve this http://www.comet.co.uk/p/PC-Speakers/buy-BOSE-Companion-3-2.1-PC-Speakers-PC-Speaker/363022 at the same time to plug into the headphone socket, so whatever you are watching, the sound comes out of that

Sorry, cold.
I know Sony Centre's are franchise but there's a thread on here for same unit but with 5 year warranty thrown in
Oh and Sony is 5% on the (not very reliable) quidco

Right, so you'd sooner pay the same price but not get the free 5 year warranty then? Ok, your cash :)

u mentioned same unit but didn't mention the price, nor did I say I would be purchasing this. I simply made a point about quidco being comet and not sony.

Might help if u put a link up to the thread your mentioning.

Granted, i didn't mention the price but i'd not mention a tv from a different supplier, suggest it was a better deal based solely on the warranty but yeah, fair cop, i didn't mention price.

Equally mind, i didn't read your comment as anything but comet

Link to the Sony Deal for £399, inc 5 year warranty

*thumbs up*

with the warranty that would be a much better deal, crazy hot.

probably because this is about the most popular size, therefore a lot of retailers have taken orders of several thousand of them, economies of scale

great price for this set, tho' i would go for 100Hz, Sony centre deal looks hot too!

Hubby works for a company, they get different discounts through the work place, 10% off comet, 8% off apple, 10% burtons etc.

If you are using the 10% off voucher I'd expect your Quidco to be declined.

Good price for a TV I bought in November for £499. Voted hot.

Like others have said, it's a great telly but the sound is crap - be prepared to augment your set up with decent speakers. It's a mid range TV but it has loads of great features so even with the poor sound it's still worth buying.

what is the guarantee on this?
#22
1 year manufacture. Chance to take out the extended warranty too which covers virtually everything apart from stolen etc. Although it's quite a bit extra.
#23
Do you know if they can reserve an item for afew days? My 10% off code will be availbale on the 29th and i'd like to buy it then.

WARNING If you want cashback on Click and Collect!

I was told that Click and Collect orders are only valid for 24 hours (though the web site states you have until the end of the next day), and then they are automatically deleted off the system!

I reserved the TV a couple of hours ago yesterday, had a phone call at 10am this morning to say it was all ready to go, and was just in Comet to pick up it. They couldn't find the order, so one of the staff suggested they just sell me one from stock as they had loads. I explained I would not receive my cashback. They tried to let me on an Internet enabled laptop to re-reserve another one with cashback, but this failed on the final stages of Comet's web site due to their secure site. In the end they took 3% off the price. Instant cashback!
I'm not sure if the cashback would have been minus VAT, so I might have made an extra few quid? But it was a hassle!

OMG there is a queuing system in place on Comet's web site lol.
It's a bit like taking a ticket and waiting in a queue at a deli counter!

"Sorry to keep you waiting

Our website is very busy at the moment and your request has been put in a queue. To ensure you keep your place, please do not press refresh or navigate away from this page.
What happens next?

This page will refresh every 30 seconds to check your place in the queue. We expect the total waiting time to be about 2 minutes. After this time, you will be able to continue as normal and we won't keep you waiting again."

We picked up the tv earlier and i love it!

I was watching THE POLAR EXPRESS with the kids earlier and it some of the scenes seemed very 3D-ish!

Ordered, any advice on a decent but reasonable stand for this would be appreciated
Thanks!!
