It's not full HD, I would go for this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-KDL40V3000-Widescreen-Bravia-Freeview/dp/B000VZ602Q/

and wait a few months and you could get a blu ray player for under £200
#2
it is full hd, specs are messed up.
#3
I f you are going to invest the last post is right go 1080P however Sky HD still output in 720p Blueray players and xbox360, PS3 will go the full 1080p.

I have the KDW40W3000 And can`t fault 1 it bit.

Neither hot or cold on this deal sorry.

EDIT: If it is 1080p I have voted HOT.
#4
it is full HD.

this is exactly the same TV im looking to buy for my PS3.
However this price isnt hot at all. You can get this tv from john lewis with their 5 year warranty for about the same (minus the pointless blu ray player), or for about £820 from amazon.co.uk

voted cold, but if any other 40v3000 deals come to light in the near future, i urge someone to post them!
#5
Thats actually the same telly!:-D

The V3000 series is Full HD....surely

Not bad price actually, just wish it was a PS3 instead of a Blu-Ray player.

To be honest, if retailers are comming up with deals like this (similar to those everyone went nuts for in crimbo) then surely their bound to do it again...its only a matter of time until they do it with the PS3.

Either way, thats a smashing deal

barginhunter2008, regarding your W3000, are you experiencing any of the issues which have appeared on the AV Forums site such as the green tint and the purple stuff? I was interested in getting the W3000 but if its got serious issues, then I don't see why I shouldn't just go for the V3000. Waaay cheaper too!

By the way, if you don't mind, could you tell me how much you got it for and from where?

Thanks, much appreciated

Fantastic deal. Blu Ray player on it's own is £250. As posted, PS3 would be better.

I think you get the Spiderman trilogy free with it as well.

I bought it for £1100 ish from Empire direct with inc a 5 year cover.
I have had not 1 problem with it, and when watching HD it looks so stunning I end up watching programs that I have not even interested in.

I would recommend it for sure, If you go to any toysrus store that sells PS3 the tele they use to demo the ps3 is that model, I think you will be impressed.

its really £1199 from john lewis ,i know because ive searched everywere for a deal on this tv.btw why is a good blue ray player pointless if you are buying a full hd tv.seems pretty good to me and before you start i dont need another games console, still dont think the ps3 can touch the 360.

This is a good price for this package. This is full hd and a very good set, i nearly bought it before christmas for £1400 till sony style made a price mistake on the KDL40W3000 price an i bought it instead.
Until March 08 (stock permitting), Sony are giving Spiderman Trilogy and Pirates of the Carribean Trilogy free when you register the blu-ray player, just register with the disk in the box.
On another side note, when i registered my w3000 using it's disk, Sony gave me 1yr accidental insurance cover, should the worst happen and entered into a competition for a 40gb PS3.

Get the Panasonic TH42PX70 for £650. I've seen pictures from both the and Panny is a far superior picture for just about everything. I'm so glad I bought the TH42PX70 rather than an LCD. LCD's have some way to go before they match plasma picture quality at 40+ inches. Then buy a PS3 which will also be 2.0 Blu-Ray upgradable in a few months time.

Hi, out of interest how much was the 40W3000 mispriced for at Sony Style?

Do you know if this offer is available for standalone Blu-ray player purchases, or is it only for TV bundles?

Cheers

Sky HD is 1080i, and only xbox 360's with a HDMI out will go to 1080p properly.

Excellent TV! Just got one myself about 1 month ago - it IS full 1080P, and even outputs blurays at 24fps.

Would recommend to anyone - the picture is amazing!

(Incidently I paid £1150 for mine, with 5 years guarantee and 40GB PS3... but this keeps it under the grand mark, so I vote HOT!)

Blutamax player though :-(

All the standalone Blutamax players currently sold are already obsolete due to profile issues.

You can get this TV with price match from John Lewis with a free 5 year warranty for £1050 (same as Dixons deal without the voucher code). You also get 3% quidco cash back.

I brought the same TV from John Lewis with a free PS3 console for £999, 4 weeks ago. The TV is full 1080p, excellent all round. Only weakness is on standard definition if you watching fast moving sports e.g. tennis, you sometimes get blurring of the tennis ball, but on HD no problems at all.

I wouldn't say they were obsolete, just can't get all the extras.

I seen this telly for £788 so your playing £200 for the Blu-Ray. I personally would just get a PS3 or wait for the next gen of Blu-Ray players.

They already did - before Christmas at John Mewis - £899 with 5 yr warranty and free ps3 - and I got one

avforums.com got hold of it and between me and another few hundred posters, we cleared them out nationwide inside a couple of days......

*sigh*
Just download the profile update from the Sony website and mount the ISO on a CD. Install this on your Sony Blu-ray player and hey-presto.
Yes if you buy cheapo Samsung players you will have a problem with updated profiles, not with the Sony players. Please stop propogating this misleading information.

only xbox 360's with a HDMI out will go to 1080p properly.

Depends if the TV will take 1080p over component / vga. The 360 will output 1080p either way.

Rubbish. Standard Xbox 360s will display 1080p perfectly.

Well if they dont have all the components needed to use all the features of a current disk, that is obsolete to most people.

Quite - about twice the cost of an HD DVD player and already obsolete and with all the inherent disadvantage of Blutamax - e.g. not region free, cant have a DVD on the flip side, etc.

Hi Charlie12,
They mispriced the package for £1337.98, it took 3 phone calls to get an operator to agree to sell at that price as the true price was £1990 and the website was very quickly updated to the right price. It also took 3weeks to be delivered so wasn't sure it would actually arrive without being asked for more money.

As far as I'm aware it's available on all sony blu-ray players, packaged or standalone. Once i registered the blu-ray playe, there is no communication from Sony to say the films are on there way and they just turn up in the post in two envelopes.

ok you are right but 720p and 1080i are the same thing (progressive vs interlaced) I can meet you on the AV forum to discuss further.
