Yeah it's great but the PS3 DOESN'T play PS2 or PS1 games :(
Great if you don't mind that small problem.
#2
I'm looking for both, a 40" 1080p & PS3 in the sales gets HOT from me.

Any codes vouchers anyone?
#3
Deal seems good. Only wish I wasnt so skint. Added some heat.

And the telly doesnt make the tea either.

Voted Cold

/sarcasm

(really - without hijacking the thread, why would I want a nextgen, bluray playing console and a Full HD playing old old SD games - if you want a ps1 or ps2, they're cheap enough.

Voted hot really)

is this model better than the tesco one? if its the same couldnt u get the 599 one and get a 400 pound ps3 bundle and it would be the same price as this?
#6
good deal, i think the tv is going for about that by its self
#7
Cheapest I found TV £899,so great deal if u haven't got a PS3 and want one ;)

This is alot better than the Tesco deal - the V series tvs are fairly top end, the P series are entry level ish. And this telly is 1080p, which I accept will start yet another arguement over the benefits of this over 720p/1080i, but remember the BluRay player in the pS3 outputs a full 1080p signal so you will get about the best picture you can. And all for change from £1k.

The TV on its own is around £900 delivered at the mo, so basically you get a PS3 for £100. Bargain

Not quite, £850 at teleworld, £899 at Dixons/Currys.

Was around £790 yesterday at Dixons with the 10% code and Quidco. Or £765 with Egg Card. I was tempted at £765 but I want a 3/5 year warranty and a reputable retailer ;-)

Also the TV is due a price reduction shortly due to poor sales, so its worth holding on if you don't want a PS3.

The Argos deal is a good deal if you want a PS3 and happy with the 1 year warranty and the retailer.

Deal seems good however I'm not sure posting packages are a good thing.

Voted hot. Was looking for both tv & PS3 in sales. Thanks for the post!

Why????
#13
Got a Sony Centre advert today and the KDL-40V3000 is £1199 in there after a £200 reduction, with no PS3. So £999 including a PS3 is a bargain and a half, even if you treat the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player only.
#14
Great combo that, for entry level into the world of 1080p. However just a note that this TV doesn't support Motionflow (that 100Hz thingy), so when you watch sports and other fast action stuff, there is a noteable difference in quality when comparing to other TVs that have 100Hz technology included.
#15
@quizzy: Hmm and I thought the 40 GB actually played all PS1 games via software emulation and it was only the PS2 that was out of the question with the Emotion Engine graphics chip gone.

40" 1080p Sony TV & Blu-Ray Player > Voted Hot :p

Hot, this deal looks hard to beat for a decent tv and ps3
#18
hi i want to get a ps3, originally i was going to get one at the end of march for gran turismo 5 and gta but after seeing this good offer im undecided. i dont need the ps3 now so do you think there will be a better deal in a couple of months time or not? so should i wait til when i want it or get this deal now?

thanks a lot!
#19
Whichever way you look at this deal, it's damn hot.

I think we're not allowed to post packages or something.

Shame, I have seen some great packages on the internet.......:whistling:

About the 40gb ps3 not playing PS2 games it dosn't matter IMHO. I have the 60Gb ps3 and have never played a PS2 game on it despite having about 40+ PS2 games! Once you start playing games in HD you won't want to go back to play PS2 games.

Anyway excellent deal, voted hot :)
#23
hot deal, but this tv does not handle sd connections that well.
looked at this set at the sony centre and was not impressed, has motion blur issues as well.. do some research first at the avforums first before you buy!
#24
same tv with ps3 and serano sb1050 stand is £1,149 instore at currys.
#25
you can get ps3 free when you sign up to certain phone contracts...not sure which though!

They're never really free, they just include the cost in the price and sometimes a little bit more. Take the following example from dialaphone:

Contract 1:

Contract 2:

That's the worst case, at least with some mobile deals it's included in an inflated monthly cost so what you're effectively doing is taking a loan out for it. But people see the "Free PS3" and think wow what a great deal, how can i lose? It's deceit and false advertising IMO.

/If you buy this peanut off me i will give you a FREE CAR!!!!!! The peanut is 10 grand, but you get a FREE CAR!!!!

Just called John Lewis at glasgow to price match the Argos deal of the Sony KDL-40V3000 and a 40GB PS3 at £999. Extra benefit of buying from John Lewis is their 5 year warranty on TVs.

They have a "local" offer which includes the 40GB PS3 for a total of £999.

TV product code = 82450108
PS3 product code = 826210702

Currys, Comet, Argos 1 year warrenty , so JL came out tops and with the 5 year TV warranty a lot more peace of mind!

Sony centre further reduced to £1149.Saw it instore yesterday. This includes a 5 year warranty. Also there was a note saying buy this TV and get PS3 for £100. Basically we get TV + PS3 + 5 yr warranty for £1250.

If you are ready to pay £250 extra for a 5 yr warranty then goto Sony centre else argos deal is good.

Dunno y ppl are fussing abt the PS3.. just put in on ebay for say £250. So u basically get a TV thats cheapest market price is £850 for around £750.

This is HOT considering this is the best TV in this price bracket.
#29
prev post John Lewis give 5 year warrentys for free !!!
#30
does john lewis do a price match on everything, including sale price? also do they offer 5 years warranty?
#31
the ps3 with the TV . is not a Argos offer . Its a sony offer handed down.

There is a problem with deal on there website . I just phoned them . they are awaiting there interenet team to fix it .

http://www.johnlewis.com/Technology/Televisions/Televisions/SubCategory.aspx

Forget the ARGOS deal ..... Go for John Lewis 5 year warrenty. not 1 with argos
