Seems like an incredible deal!!!

I paid £750 for the 40v3000 just 4 months ago!! Wish I had waited a while and got this instead now!
#2
Currys 5 year warranty would cost over £400!! That model is only about 3 months old, I think.

Great deal!

Some people may not know that the BDPS300 is a RRP £300 blu-ray Player
#10

I really like the sony lcds,i have a 40'1080p and its got a really good picture,we bought an exdisplay cheap 40 inch samsung 1080p for dining room and we just could not get used to the image it was too pixilated so we returned it and got another sony, the colours on the sony are really natural,if i dint have one already i would buy this its an absolute steal with the waranty.
#13
Does anyone know if this is in Debenham stores nationwide? Might consider selling my existing TV and going for this!!
#14
Excellent find , I will go for this one . Waiting for sometime for good deal , looks like this is it ..
#15
Sony centre are doing 5 years warranty with the 40w4000 with a blu ray player for 999 too.
#16
Has this price been confirmed - looks unbelievable to me !
#17
Anyone got any thoughts as to whether or not the W is worth the extra money. That's the one I've got my heart set on, but is it worth the extra cash?

I wouldnt bother for the W4000 ... if you do a comparison on the sony site it shows the w4000 has a usb reader (ok if you need it) and has a similar menu to the ps3 (XMB) but thats it ....

I've got 1 of these and its awesome ! price is definatly confirmed ! ...

However it doesnt look like all the stores... the sound and vision department in gateshead is a concession but they say they have 20 other debenhams concessions ... your best bet is just giving your local store a call...

I really wouldn't miss out ! its a brilliant picture !

You can pick it up for £179.99 at amazon.

Also it doesn't support profile 1.1, wheras the PS3 will. PS3 all the way (for films, 360 for games :whistling: )

Stuff magazine, this month say the W, is THE BEST 40" TV you can buy (at the moment  )

im not sure the 40w is worth the extra cash for the usb socket and new OS...

I think you'll find the 'W' range has a lot more to offer over the 'V' range - like a 10-bit panel compared to the 8-bit in the 'V'.

Note 'W' is not 100Hz but current Sony 100Hz seems to be a slight disadvantage for Standard Def (ie Freeview) viewing (according to reviews I've been studying).

The "free" player is first-generation and lacking some features of current models - everyone is trying to unload it through offers like this. Hot if you don't mind what's missing,

To Confirm this deal is active!!

Manchester Debenhams have this deal.
Birmingham Bullring Debenhams has this deal.
Just placed the order with manchester also the deal includes 4 free blue-ray titles.

Excellent Find.

Superb deal! Been waiting for a deal like this for a long time so snapped it up!

However, a few points to clarify:
1. The 5 year warranty only covers the TV, not the Blu-Ray player. That is covered by std. 1 years manufacturers warranty. Also the 5 year warranty doesn't cover accidental damage and is provided by Sonex (see (4)).
2. Richer Sounds will price match (in Reading anyway) including the warranty - however, there's only 15 or so of the TVs available in the whole country and the Reading store weren't sure if they were getting any more.
3. Currys Digital will also price-match + an extra 10% off (again, Reading will) to make the price £630. However, they won't match the 5 year warranty as the Currys cover includes accidental damage etc.
4. The Sonex Sound & Vision in Debenhams Reading also do 9 months 0% interest (10% deposit min) and you can spread the payments as and how you like. Currys do the same but charge 10% interest which negates the price-match (just in case like me you're interested in the credit option).
5. There's no HDMI cable supplied (with TV or BluRay player) - worth bearing in mind.

Apart from that, excellent deal! If you want one you better hurry - I got the last one this morning out of 2 and I'm not getting the Blu-Ray player till next week as that's out of stock. I heard the sales assistant take at least 2 calls about the same deal and people in Debenhams were all hovering around it. Since I knew this was a great deal I snapped one up no worries (after trying to price-match of course)!

Could I hook up my harddrive to the 40w4000 to watch the movies? What function does the usb port have then?
#26

What function does the usb port have then?

Along with a 'slide show' option which takes your photos from a USB stick and allows you to control their display through the remote, Sony have added 'photo frame' functionality to the KDL-40W4000. The panel can be set up to scroll through your favourite JPEG snaps (acting as a giant electronic picture frame) when the TV is not in use, or you can use some of the pre-installed artwork. These simple but effective features really do add another dimension to your flat panel TV.

Did you have to bring anything to Currys for proof of the deal? Does theprice include the Blueray player?

Cheers

Some people may not know that the BDPS300 is a RRP £300 blu-ray Player

- It's also only fair to point out that the S300 is a dead model (now replaced by the new Sony S350) and only profile 1.0.

I know some people say they aren't interested in the 'extras' but personally I think a proper degree of 'added value' is the least they can throw in considering the cost of most Blu-ray movies & hardware.

.....and don't get me started on that ridiculous annoying 'regional coding' guff they have
(yes I know it's not used on every disc but it's there & used on plenty right now & now they have no region-free high def competitor you can bet it's going to be used increasingly).

Heat added.

It is a very good deal for a recent & pretty good HD TV
(tho it's by no means the best one out there).

I reckon that for now the Sony S300 will be ok for some -

but be warned

if they start mucking around with the BD+ security system and/or any of the other security stuff some people might find themselves high & dry
(particularly those not so adept with computers and dowenloading updated firmwares and/or burning to disc etc etc),

Cracking deal! Voted Hot!
#30
Is this better than the Panasonic Plasma PX80 thats currently getting heat?
#31
Just been and got one of these from the metro center, the offer is on till the end of the month. They didnt have any in stock but they are taking orders and its likely they will get them on Thursday of each week till the end of the offer. The guy in the shop was really nice and i think was looking at this thread on here, lol.

Cant wait to get mine, marks and Spencer are doing the same deal but for £799 they would not match it but did have stock.
#32
Contrary to popular belief, Plasma's are the way forward.
#33
Thanks to moist_gibbon for this excellent spot:thumbsup:

I actually bought this package from Currys on Tuesday for £749 and thought I got a good deal!! So after seeing this, I managed to get them to price match this offer after telephoning Debenhams in Basildon who confirmed the deal and that they had them in stock. I then went armed with this info back to Currys and after a very shell shocked manager made a phone call he refunded me £55 (The difference plus 10% of the difference as opposed to 10% of the cheaper purchase price as someone previously stated - I did try to get it for £630 but then read the actual wording of the price match which clearly states " If you do find any of our products cheaper at one of the retailers below, including home delivery, we’ll match it and give you an extra 10% of the difference.")

Anyway, top result in the end and can confirm that this is a very tasty bit of kit!!
#34
Sorry - this might have been clarified - but are Debenhams stores limiting the number of these deals they sell? In the Midlands and this would be an awsome deal for myself - been looking for this TV at a decent price for ages...
#35
Bought the package earlier from the Guildford Debenhams.,
No blu-ray discs as this promo was stopped last week,
Also no hdmi cable, but thankfully they had one for £40... (yeah right!)

I can only vouch for the guy that I spoke to but he said the deals on until the end of the month, no mention of any limitations on the amount they sell. My advice would be to use the store locator on the Debenhams website then ring round to check availability and stock as a few of the ones that I checked with said that they didn't even sell TV's.
#37
I called my local Debenhams and they were out of stock but the guy I spoke to said they are getting more stock in about a week but couldn't give a date.
#38
Blimey, that took almost half the 1st page just for the specs alone. :whistling:

Yeah - the guy in the Debenhams store was happy to provide a written quote for me on a business card. Currys will then ring to see if they have it in stock before price matching.

Also - the offer is definetely on till end August - the flyer in the Reading store states this (dorry I don't have a pic!)

Now all I need is a HDMI cable and a stand and I'll be well chuffed! Just ready for the new footy season!
