Probably the best 40" TV under £1k on the market (http://whathifi.com/Review/Sony-KDL-40W4000/) available at a great price from a very reliable retailer Richer Sounds. Full description of the TV is available on their website following the link.

If you want a 5 year panel protect deal it'll cost another £100 on top however - and you can get the TV from places such as ElectroSaver for £100 less intotal after extended warranties are added.

However, the best part of this deal is that if you have a John Lewis near you and a Richer Sounds (Milton Keynes for example) then JL will price match the £999.95 and include their legendary 5 year warranty as is standard on all expensive electrical things.

Hope this helps anyone looking for an awesome TV, I'm going to get the set from John Lewis this week, after visiting Richer Sounds and getting that price match.

Currys also have it at £999.99 so JL have plenty to price match against. ALSO if you have a JL card and order vouchers at 8% off (i.e order £1000 vouchers will only cost you £920), you'll then get the TV even cheaper. Brilliant !

What's this about discount JLP vouchers. My union can get them at a 6% discount, where offers 8%?

Both these prices don't have the 5 year warranty - but make it look like they have by saying it has the 5 year warranty instore - but then add that the instore price differs.

I would not buy from a shop trying to con people like that.

However - the price is excessive for the size and spec - so COLD

John Lewis credit card owners I guess. Some pretty harsh voting here - if your tv breaks down after a year you'll wishing you paid an extra £20 after using your John Lewis vouchers with 5yr guarantee ! Probably overcomplicated the whole post but still, there's a bargain in there which I at least will be taking advantage of.

I've got a JLP credit card and never seen mention of discount gift vouchers. Yes, I agree, it is a good deal.

Think you should be entitled to them - my mum gets them whenever purchasing something big or getting a massive food shop, worth investigating.

Not very good deal.

Total Digital have it for 915 inc 5yr deal. You do have to buy in store but they could deliver. This is where i got mine and it is an actual shop in Birmingham.
