great post, i have been trying to track this tv today and so far this beats all the prices i have found, next one up i found was with dixons (around £850). what are pixmania like? quick delivery?

I have this TV and it is awesome. I waited and waited to find a flat panel that was as good as my Panny 32inch CRT. I found it in this model and for that price, buy one, the picture quality is phenomenal especially on fast moving scenes. Crystal clear, but does show imperfections of standard broadcast TV, but in an acceptable manner, unlike most flat panels I have watched. Gets rave reviews and I can only add my total satisfaction having owned one for 2 months.

have a read of this

sure i have read people on here have had problems in the past... never used them myself though

says nuhtin abt warranty...

There have been quality control problems with these TVs , and I'd be wary about buying one from a retailer that doesn't have first class customer service in case of issues.

Pixmania have an incredibly bad reputation for this kind of thing so I'd suggest paying the fifty quid extra or so and buying elsewhere.

Yes i think they were on watchdog or i have seen it some place with lots of unhappy customers. im not 100% sure on this so thats why i asked. just in the back of my mind to stay away from them. when i am spending this kind of money i want to feel secure in the stores return policy.

if you dont like pixmania you can get richer sounds to price match
#8
Richer Sounds wont price match. Simply because they cant. I was in last thursday. They have 1 left in stock in their entire network of stores. Unless they get new stock soon.

The front counter sales person refused to take an order as he couldnt guarantee stock.

John lewis may be a better bet.

As for warranties. If richer sounds do price match they will add cost of 5 year warranty onto price.

Pixmania warranty for 5 years is £226. Ackkk. Go figure.

If you are after a warranty this is a poor deal.

Richersounds: 849+85=934 + postage

Pixmania: 794.99+226=1020.99 + postage - Although it appears this is not sold by Pixmania directly so the warranty may be standard 1-2 years only.

Why exactly is this a better price?

John Lewis will only price match retail outlets not internet only sites.

The seller appears to be 'Hughes Electrical', who are a 'Which' recommended merchant. Does this work like Amazon in that your contract is with the original seller; does anyone know?

Thanks for that info. :)

I would prefer to be able to contact a retail outlet in case something went wrong. Problem is finding one that isnt about to go under.

I have been waiting for the price of the Sony KDL40W4500 to come down and was waiting for the January sales. I was pretty disappointed that Richer Sounds didn't put it on sale. I've also been wondering if the next price move of LCD/Plasma TV's might be UP given the terrible exchange rate against the Euro/Dollar and Yen.

I've logged on to Richer Sounds site today to find that they have now increased the price of this TV by £50 to £899.99 so I guess that answers THAT question!

I'm gutted it's a great TV but I just can't afford that kind of money.
