Do you have to have a continuous Costco membership for the entire 5 years? Or could you join again before making a claim?

Not asking because I want to take advantage of there good customer service/warranty (IMO). But more because they're arent any near me, so sometimes I let my membership lapse until my next visit.

Also this TV is 3D ready isnt it? Although I think Sony take the **** with the cost of the 3D upgrade kit :(

My friend let their's lapse, and re-joined. Their PS3 died 3 years after purchase and they gave him a full refund. Not sure if this is standard process or not ..

Do Costco still quote their prices excluding VAT?

I got one in November when this TV was listed on this site for £702 from Comet, but only a standard 1 year warranty. Impressive TV and good value at this price especially with extended warranty. The frame is so thin that the TV doesn't look that big when it comes out the box. Also really thin and light weight.

£599 + vat = £720,

Cov4theprem, missed the £702 deal cheap for the 46 inch in November, have you had any issues problems with this tv? still deciding if i should keep it,

Can anyone please tell me if Costco give a free 5-year warranty on all TV's.

If so, this deal looks to good to miss.

Have a look at the comments on Amazon and you will see some have complaints about colour bleeding on the outer edge. Now i have read the comments i can see it, but it is not visable unless you really really look for it, and then it is subjective. My advice is for the price take it as it is a cracking bit of kit and looks superb. If you see the 'issue' and don't like it, you have 5 years to return it! This current deal is better as it has a longer warranty and is pay and take. The comet deal was after quidco and vat back from sony with long forms to fill out....

thanks for that info looks like im gonna keep it

My local store does not have it at this price - its a lot higher - if you can scan a copy of your receipt (obviously covering your personal details) they said they will price match for me - is that possible?

This is deserving of much more heat. I have been after this tv for a while and it is £1000 at John Lewis so I was holding out for Costco to reduce.
Fortunately Derby is my local branch and on seeing your post I went and picked one up friday. Set it up that night and I'm delighted with it
Thanks op for posting

i need to get a new bracket for mine now as it doesn't fit old one!

i would recommend the tv stand with bracket they have in costco. they are reduced to 99.97 and took some putting together but they are pretty solid

Great deal :). But if you dont have a costco card you could get from PRCdirect for £739.00 when you trade in & Free 5 year warranty (not too sure what you have to trade in to get this price though).

Good price, but the Panasonic G20 50" plasma is a better TV for less money.

This Sony looks incredibly good though, I wish Panasonic paid more attention to the aesthetics of their products.

Lol, classic comment, HUKD never ceases to amaze me. It is a Cash and Carry and the majority of its customers run businesses and therefore don't pay VAT. Hence they state both prices.

It's a deal Sony have running at the moment. You get money off of a new Sony television if you trade in another TV in at the same time. See here.

I phoned comet last week to enquire about this, they said you can give them any television to get the money off, the make or model doesn't matter.

It's a pretty good deal considering you can get an old television off of eBay for a few £s (if you don't have any around the house already).

Lots of reviews of bad screen bleed, I have a samsung, and I hate it, very very distracting when watching dark movies.
#31
'bout time this went hot! I was in on tuesday and they still had at least four left in derby. Have had mine a couple of weeks now thanks to OP and am delighted with it. have the internet tv up and running now. if you are in the market for a tv i would recommend it
#32
Not sure how it compares on quality or features, but purely on screen size and cost, I got the Samsung 46" LCD from Richer Sounds with a 5-year guarantee for £516.
#33
friend has the NX713 which is fairly similar and it's very good (except the internet widget feature which is so slow as to be useless).

don't vote cold because you can get a 46" tv cheaper, as chances are it's utter crap compared to the 7 series sony TVs.

Great TV, I got this model from PRCDirect in Ilford a couple of weeks ago for £739 with a 5 year warranty. The minus points are that I don't have Freeview HD in my area yet, but the Freeview tuner isn't as sharp as my 10 year old Panasonic satalite box that I have plugged into the AV scart socket. Colour looked a bit washed out until I played about with the settings manually, but I really think its the Freeview tuner thats the problem as the colour looks fine on the external satalite box and the PS3? I've now ordered a Humax Freesat HD box so that I can pick up some HD channels and record TV. I don't understand this LED Edge Lighting business? every make of TV that uses it just produces a strange glow around the egde of the screen, luckily you can turn the edge lighting down to a minimum (which I have), or even off if you wish. Plus points are that I love the menu system, very similar to the PS3 menu system. USB port plays AVI and Mpg files (with clearer image quality than the Freeview tuner), but it won't play Apple M2V files, but my PS3 does anyway?

WARNING DONT TOUCH SONY PRODUCTS.

I have been a faithful Sony customer for many years however my latest purchase EX503 model which is a older model than this (1 year old) is useless and has an awefull picture Sony take the p!55 with their 5 year manufacturers warranty and refuse to acknowledge any fault. I have a toshiba which was half the price and has a much better picture. The connectivity claims that Sony are making with their new products is not strictly true as not all files will work over the DNLA without a additional media server software not even files taken by a Sony camcorder. I am a network engineer and was astonished at the lack of network knowledge level demonstrated by Sony support Its only a food for thought for people who are torn between two different models.
If you disagree just google Sony customer service and you see that their are many of us now pledging not buying any more Sony products to be treated in this way.

You pay your money & take your choice.
