Good price we paid a lot more last month!

Fantastic tv, lightweight and comes with its own wall bracket which is probably safer than using it as a stand
#4
Wish this was the 55" one

I bought this tv last year and have been massively impressed with the picture quality and features. One point of note is to make sure you turn off the in built picture enhancements such as motion flow as this causes visible ghosting to appear especially when watching sports. Bargain at this price

The 55" works out £779 once tcb applied from Sonic Direct. Just trying to persuade the mrs that our 50" Panasonic needs upgrading...
#7
Actually, just noticed Sonic Direct have a 5% off codr on facebook too, not sure if that would invalidate tcb, but even if it did this brings it down to £759, if tcb works as well a poss £740ish
#8
I put this on last night and it was removed, don't know why

Fantastic deal for a very good tv.

Richersounds would Price match and beat Hispek if you live within 50 miles of St Albans. So £689 with 5 year Warranty. Of course these places make their money on the Cables.

John Lewis would also price match with 5 year warranty. Options!!

Sainsburys are doing HDMI cables half price at £3.49 at present.

I tend to use pricespy.co.uk for price comparisons on tv. Helped me get my Blu Ray player cheaper.
Number of other sites do this model for £699.

Does this come with any 3 glasses?

which is better this or the Samsung 6400?

Depends who you listen to!! What hi fi reckon the Samsung has the edge but just about everyone else reckons the Sony is the better bet. In a nutshell sort of non scientific conclusion ......the Samsung has punchier reds and blues and a better
Smart suite , the Sony is two inches bigger screen wise and ( according to the majority of reviews) has a better picture. There have been numerous problems with lip synch issues with the Samsung, though this shouldn't he an issue if you have a Sky box or something similar.Either way, they are both great, and at the moment you can get the Samsung for £530, the Sony quite a bit more.
Me? I still can't make up my bloody mind!!!!

Actually, do you mean you can only use the code in store? I'm not far away, so can I just pop in and say I saw the code on Facebook? I know that sounds odd, but not quite as odd as 'here's a code you can't use'.....though that wouldn't be THAT unusual!!!!

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I saw the 55 inch at currys, it beats all other models in terms of picture and build
quality. Waiting the 55 inch price to go down £650.

We have this, everyone who comes round comments on how good the picture is.

Bought the 55" recently and it is an excellent set.
Very impressived.
After selling off the bits I didn't need (free Bluetooth soundbar and included 3D glasses), it cost me £580.

They will probably discontinue the model before that happens. Usually around March time the upgrades start coming out.

don't buy Sony glasses . 2 pair Samsung glasses for £17 work fine on this tv

Would have gone for this if it was around the £600 mark, will have to make due with the 6400 55", slighlty poor picture quality but getting the bigger screen and saving at least £80.
#30
I thought the 6400 and this are good TV's as both won many awards

It was £799 from Tesco Direct (the weekend after Black Friday), then 10% staff discount reduced it to £719 and finally selling off the unwanted stuff reduced it to £580.

This seems to tick all the boxes, if I could afford it I would consider getting one!

Good price for a Sony

Price doesn't reflect in poor quality, this set is very highly rated by some of the most highly respected review sites in the world!

3D

4 HDMI

2 USB

Built in WIFI

Smart apps including the magic amazon instant AND netflix combo

3 core processor

Freeview HD

444 chroma sub sampling makes it much better for use as a pc monitor or for consoles

This seems like a very complete product and the price is really good for a Sony set. The difference between 1080p and 4k is going to be nowhere near as obvious as the leap from SD to 1080p, probably indistinguishable under common viewing differences so unless using the TV as a computer monitor where you will sit close enough to appreciate the extra pixels is a priority (not that this TV isn't already excellent for that) I wouldn't bother waiting for a 4k set really.

I would have no hesitation buying this if I had the cash, it seems like it's just the right combination of size, price, image quality and functionality, normally you have to sacrifice on one of those things!
