The phrase "sony laptop" implies that it's a selling point, though my experiences with Vaios have been horrible.

Sony take so many payoffs from so many third parites to include their dreadful software with their computers that out of the box the machine is already grinding to a halt and completely unstable. If you have a suitable Windows disc to do a clean install of windows without all of the awful software, they're not bad machines, well, once you've navigated Sony's horrible website to track down drivers etc... But it's a lot of hassle to get a usable computer!

That is a seriously nice price for the spec and a VAIO.

Fairly good price for a Vaio.
Not my cup of tea....but gave a hot vote for the price and product.

awsome deal for a brand name like Sony. Will order tonight.

For what its worth I had 3 months of hell with a Sony before returning it and got my money back. Just got a HP DV2535ea (hot tip on this site last week) and so far it appears much better.

I do agree with Spielo on the software front. When I bought my Vaio FS nearly two years ago, I sued it for about 10 minutes and then created a fresh XP install to get rid of the tat.

If you can get over that the hardware itself is excellently designed. My Vaio is far more comfortable to use than my work Dell, and the Screen is miles better.

It also doesn't get hot when using on my lap.

Is this any good, I am looking for a laptop for someone, they suggested the Samsung R60 from Tesco at £499
