Looks like one of those 'got to have it but why do I need it' gadgets!

Not sure totally what it does, seemingly you connect a Freeview box or similar up to it and you can watch it through a wireless PC/laptop or PSP in your house!

Anyway sale price looks a lot more tempting than original price and seems cheaper than eBay!

Revolutionise the way you watch TV at home or on-the-go with Sony's unique LocationFree technology.

Simply connect your DVD player, DVD recorder, Set Top box or TV to the LocationFree basestation to wirelessly stream live TV or pre-recorded content, to another room of the house or in the garden, either to your laptop or PSP.

Enjoy recorded or live TV anywhere in the world, as if you were sitting in the living room by accessing your LocationFree on your laptop or PSP via a broadband Internet connection.

Never miss a program ever again with full control of recording and playback from your home device, wherever you are.

Size (W)46,(H)18.28,(D)12.83cm.

Weight 0.4kg.

I've added some extra info to the OP.
It's a good saving but not for me.

That means in the U.S. it sells for £50 :-(

shame it requires a direct ethernet connection to the router...I keep my router in the office, not the living room....:(

Its just a gadget that never caught on.

It was getting aimed heavily at PSP users, and people with laptops.
As far as i see, it just flopped, the quality was crap.

Can see why.
If you want to go away, and stream TV to your laptop when you stay away, you are dependant on your download speed, and you upload speed from home.
I doubt most peoples home upload rate would support video steeaming out.

Therefore its only really useful at home, and as such my general rule applies.
Cables are always better.

I was interested in this.

But after reading the UK and USA reader reviews of this box on Amazon, have come to the conclusion that it is not so hot.

All depends on your need/desire to watch server fed entertainment on your PSP I suppose.

Admittedly it does reduce the heat a little but this forum is HotUKDeals not HotUSADeals. For example, when supermarket petrol was offered we wouldn't compare that to the price of USA gasoline.

Perhaps if the USA unit has a UK voltage selector, it might be worth paying the import duty.

I was interested, but the quality looks too poor to watch on a laptop :(

Won't it have a NTSC tuner though?
#16
It doesn't have a tuner at all, it just takes one of two video feeds and streams them via wireless or the internet to your receiving device, either a psp or pc. It has a 'ir blaster' which allows you to change channels or play dvd's etc via a software remote control.

Does this allow you to stream content from your PC/Lappy/External HD to your telly/hi-fi?
