has anyone bought these? are they the genuine article? i am tempted even though i've sworn never to buy sony ever again.

I had these, I really like them as earphones, but I found that the cable wore really badly, the rubber is too soft. Both sets I had one of the earphones gave up within about 6 months.

I use the Creative EP-630 earphones now, haven't had any problems.

... or order them from 7dayshop through Amazon for only £11.99 (still with free shipping it appears)

I've got EX85's which are the next model up and they have amazing sound quality (possibly even better than Sennheiser CX500s and definitely better than CX300). The EX71 are noise isolating as well and cnet rates them the same as CX300. Here's a review:

Edit: would like to add that EX71 is not as good as the EX70...would recommend adding a few pounds to get the CX300 or EX75 as they are both better than the EX71

volume too low compared to sennheiser

The CX300 and EP-630 are much better than these. Fragile construction and a boomy, synthetic sounding bass is my lasting memory of the EX71SL.

I have these.

Great for the price.

Sound quality is good. Nice bass.

Downside is that the earbuds can sometimes fall off. (when roughed up in a bag travelling for example)

If you lose them then you are stuck with buying another pair.

I agree, though for certain albums I grew to like the synthetic bass signature. Imagine my shock when I upgraded to Shure 530's

I bought at least two pairs of these when they used to retail at £35. It's much harder to recommend this model these days as the Sennheiser CX300's are so highly regarded. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to compare the two.

I have had these for a few years - granted I dont use them all the time, mainly when I am on a plane or travelling but lasted great, sound quality is perfect for me and noise insulating of course being in-ear headphones. I even keep them by my bed for noise insulation when I get woken up by construction of a new building near by!

Def recommend these.
