Just a heads up, the noise cancellation only works with repetitive noises such as aeroplane noise.

They're probably closed headphones anyway, which blocks out a majority of other noises.

tl;dr the noise cancellation won't help unless you're in a plane, so if there's a premium on them because of that feature; don't bother.

No it doesn't, noise cancellation technology only works for repetitive noises; due to the fact that most stuff that happens on a day to day basis is suedo-random it won't help with that (essentially all it does is reduce humming noises).

These headphones WILL block out noises purely for the fact they're closed headphones, i.e. they have a big bit of plastic between your ears and the outside world; it's not the noise-cancellation technology that's doing that.

Check out the GoodCans explanation about the technology here: Noise Reduction Headphones, Noise Cancelling Headphones, ANR Headphones (BTW, all the same thing!) by Bill K

No, you need to insert your boarding pass into a slot. I keep some old boarding passes handy in case I want to use the noise cancelling feature at home voted hot though.

my sony x series noise cancelling gives you 3 diff environments (Bus/Train,Airplane,Office ) to choose and then you can adjust each one works fine :)

I got some of these last year for airplane journeys - quite dissapointing really. I found in the end that just using a pait of in-ear types was actually better than using these.
