The Sony MHS-PM1 is perfect for capturing and sharing video and photos. Because it's so small (just over 2cm thick and 5cm wide), it'll fit in your pocket. Which means it's always at hand and you never need to miss a moment. It's quick and easy to upload your videos and photos using the in-built PMB (Picture Motion Browser) Portable software. Capture, upload and share with just a few clicks.

Seems like the best price so far.

Recording Media: Memory Stick PRO Duo Media (Sold Separately)

We all know the price of those. :(

The Kodak is here
Higher res, SDHC slot (cheaper), doesn't have a nifty swivel head, but then the advantage of being the camera man is that you don't have to be in shot. :-D

Not quite "£10 more" though, is it? I'm ordering the Zi8 today so if anyone has seen it cheaper than amazon (from somewhere half trustworthy), do post up!

This camcorder is misleading. It advertises it does 1080p. It does not do true 1080p.
(1440 x 1080 video resolution).
The Kodak does do true 1080p at 30fps.
#11
neither of these sound particularly impressive to me - surely optical zoom is a basic?
#12
£249

It's not worth £249 by a long way. That's the most misleading thing about this.

Why Better? same crapy video cam

Looks like a good deal!
#15
may be cheaper than elsewhere but its kack. about as much use as an iphone camera.

The Kodak Zi8 is brilliant. Does true 1080p video at 30fps, or 720p at 60fps. Just YouTube some of the videos - for a tiny camera that fits in to your pocket, it's amazing quality.

However, if you want 100x Optical zoom with broadcast quality video, neither of these cams will do you.

Personally don't see the attraction with these type of camcorders. Besides; why the need for these when more often than not, you're mobile phone camera quality and zoom leave it the shade. Waste of money!

I just bought a Zi8 from Amazon and I am very happy with it, although you will need to order an SD card with it as the internal memory is tiny. I got this card from play and even though it;s only a class 4, it works fine.

You will need to update your firmware though, it makes the horribly steppy digital zoom smooth and helps sort out some of the low level light problems:

And I also picked up a compatible spare battery here for £3.99 delivered:

They are also selling Gorillapod gogo's for £12.99, which you can use on the camera, but also has attachments to use as a stand for your iPhone etc, although for a more traditional tripod, mymemory do a good cheap selection:

These are pocket 'fun' camcorders for youtube and the like, or just messin' about. Different market and spec of course to an actual camcorder.

Mobile phone video quality that leaves this in the shade? If you can show me the mobile that can record at this resolution then I'll eat my hat!!

Sticking a SONY badge on a toy still leaves you with a toy.

i tried these so called 1080p camcorders and believe me they are rubbish, would be better to use ur fone or even a camrea that takes video. i bought, then swiftly returned the kodak zi8 and the samsung U10, both boast 1080p, both supposedly good video but on testing, rubbish in low light and if u move too much they shake. lets just say my phone, samsung m8800, the video quality was waaaay better than their 1080p recordings!
