There is also an 18-200 lens

A good buy would be the 16 & 18-200

You can also get a fisheye for the 16mm lens

The dual lens NEX-5 bundle is back in stock @ BestBuy (£550) Quidco 15% cashback (mine tracked at £82.50), and Sony VAT-back (£81.91).

£385.59, after cash back (just a tenner more for both lenses) however as the OP stated Jessops have it for collection. I doubt you'll get it from BestBuy before the big day.

Seems to only be 5% Quidco at BestBuy at the moment. Not sure of the sums, but I reckon given that the price of the dual lens at Jessops and BestBuy (+Quidco) will be about the same.

The price on this camera was falling rapidly, now it's going up again.
Sure it was on here a couple of times a month or so back for A LOT less than this.

This is an amazing camera. I can't compliment it enough. It takes photo's on a par with my a330 but fits nicely in my Crumpler bag with my netbook and Kindle.

Jessops sell it second hand in a damaged box for £500 and new for £468.83 . Go figure.

Size and quality.
DSLR's are big. Compacts are not as good.
This is a pretty good happy medium.
I want one, but can't really afford it at the moment.
I am hoping that despite VAT hike it'll come down in the NY...

I think that was for the NEX-3 and not the NEX-5.

Anyway I bought mine at full price of £600 2 months back for the dual lens kit for my holiday so feel a bit disappointed that the price has dropped quite a bit and has better availability. Anyway got over £300 back on my old Sony A100 off ebay with a few other bits as well as my £90 cashback from the VAT offer so not too bad in the end.

The 18-200mm is pretty rare right now, also it was close to £700 the last time I checked.
Don't know why other manufacturers don't hurry up and release their own versions.

Isn't that where the 4/3rds market is at?

Or is this a 4/3rds camera?

No it's not. The Sony NEX-5 sports an Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor that is quite a bit larger than the Micro Four Thirds sensor (in fact, it’s actually bigger than the full size Four Thirds sensor used in Olympus DSLRs).

Ah thats good to know then, I guess thats why a lot of the reviews keep going on about the picture quality, thanks for the info.

New lens selection on the way in 2011 and there is also a video camera that you can use your nex3/5 lenses with.

I applied in the first week of November and got the cheque last week, so it takes about 6 weeks average. Maybe cos of the xmas holidays coming up, you won't get it until mid january 2011.

Give them a call on 01379 649499 and quote your postcode and they should be able to tell you the status of the claim.
