I know its been posted before but as the deal is still around, albeit intermittently thought worth repeating it. I got 2 this afternoon. Got an extra £10 off each by using promo code JL0307PParent. The go in and out of stock totally at random. If you want one just keep logging on until they are available.

Details: Find your way with the fully portable Sony NV-U50 plug and play GPS navigation system. It features a 3.5 inch touch screen interface and voice guidance via the 2-way separate speaker system. It is installed with maps of the UK and Republic of Ireland as well as partial coverage of France. You can choose to display 2D or 3D maps and it shows over 75,000 points of interest including Restaurants, Accommodation, Entertainment, Petrol Stations, Parking and Sports. It speaks in 15 languages and arrives with 512MB of built-in Flash memory. It also includes a built-in lithium-Ion battery with 4 hours operating time

Advice On Image Posting And Hosting:

If you hover your mouse pointer over the image you want to show, right click over it and you'll see either "Properties" in Internet Explorer or "Copy Image Location" in FireFox.

In "Properties" in Internet Explorer, you'll need to highlight the image Address or URL completely and copy it by right clicking over it once it's all been highlighted. FireFox is easier, as you only need to click on "Copy Image Location".
Paste the copied URL in to the field which states "Link To Image File" or for forum replies and posts use this http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/images/editor/insertimage.gif to paste the URL in.

Anyone know if I could chuck this in the bag when we go out walking on the moors and use it as a hand held gps to find our way back to the car if we get lost. (Obviously we would not be on roads - just a direction and distance to the car is what we would want).

If this could also fit the bill of being a hand held gps for use in an emergency it would help me sell the idea to the wife!
#8
yes. it does have this feature. You may use this in walking mode too.
#9
Yeah but only if your walking on the road...

Doing a search, the NV-U70 has been been user reviewed here

"Pros: Great display. Displayed speed verses car speedometer accurate. Re-calculates routes fast. Easy interface to learn.

Cons: No map updates from Sony and according to the Customer Service Reps I’ve spoken with Sony does not intent to update the road maps. Even worst, on the website Sony has a link that misleads you into believing there are updates and there are none. My town had road construction that was completed about 2 years ago. I brought my NV-U70 about 3 months ago. A freind of mine brought an IWay 350c a month after I purchased my GPS unit. His have the updated roads. "

"I fully agree the Sony NV-U70, could be a really good GPS, but without updates it is kinda useless. I have had mine for 6 month’s and found it problematic especially when it get’s warm it may send you in circles. If I try to save a waypoint on the fly and attemtp to go back to that spot at a later date, it has twice been off by miles."

Basically this price is too good to be true - I was looking at getting one for myself, but would recommend that people make sure they can like without road updates. If not then check out the likes of TomTom or Garmin.

No it doesn't

You also can't upload your own POI to the navigation system.

But for that price I think it's a great deal
#32
No its only a great deal if you get a tomtom one instead of the dodgy sony unit...:p

Where???

Lewis is sending out TT1 as a replace as they have sold out of NV-U50... lucky gits :-D

I ordered mine on sunday evening and received the sony unit yesterday. It seems to be fairly up to date with road changes around here and supports full post code searches, so am happy with it especially for £88. Thanks to the op.

You can import speed camera databases to the sony unit, seems abit involved though and haven't tried it myself yet, but will be doing so when I get the chance.

I ordered mine on the 02 Feb and was delivered today. I was half expecting the TT1 as a few others had already received theirs. For some reason I believed I was going to be dissapointed with the Sony but the TomTom One New Edition V2 was an absolute bonus when I opened the Jiffy Bag
