No. I think the 815/818 models are the drag and drop versions.
#3
Right thanks for that, dont want these ones then , ? um....
#4
im sure this is the drag n drop, AMAZING price and find, hot hot hot, sound quality is uncomparable
#5
reserved the 2gb one :D
#6
can't find any 2gb ones near manchester

No,it definitely uses sonic stage click

The drag and drop is sony nwza 818 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-NWZA818-Video-Walkman-Battery/dp/B000VD2130 £88.94 @ Amazon, though has been cheaper.
#8
ah too bad this is not the drag & drop one.
the 2gb one is an amazing deal if you can find one.
#9
excellent price i paid this @ christmas for the black 4gb version.

I was told it was not drag and drop but when i received it, i found out it was

As mentioned above the sound quality is amazing. Especially on the Spiderman trailer it came with ;)

I reserved one but at the end i decided to go for a NWZA818B 8GB from play. It's exactly the same unit with one colosal difference: you don't have to use fold sonic stage to synchronize your mp3 or vids anymore. You just drag and drop. With 5 pounds off voucher for play and 4% quidco you only pay 10 quid more and you get a free delivery!
#11
Thanks for that, Wish they were all just Drag and Drop...... so easy to use.. nevermind ill wait.
#12
One thing to be point out is this model is Gapless, the NWZA818B is not.
If you listen to mixes, or classical music this is the one you want. Sonicstage isn't brilliant admittedly, but neither is it as bad as some make out.
This is a very good price for this model. I bought mine 6 months ago for almost double this.
Pros
Great battery
Great sound
Cons
Not as slick as apple
Transferring music takes a while

At the moment Dixons are stocking the NWZA818B 8GB currently at £79.99 , its £4.95 delivery but I`l just walk in and get in as they are local . I got one for the daughter from Play when they had them on offer - the picture is great and the audio is top notch - I`m getting one for myself now .
#14
I got my NWZA818B from Dixons for £75 but they've put the price up.
#15
Dixons are online only now. You'll find the store is renamed to Curry's Digital and doesn't have the same prices.
#16
dixons price match.
#17
What's the difference between this one and NWZA818B ?

Cheers

I thought Sony had waved goodbye to SonicStage a long time ago. It's a real shame that this player has to use it.

Thanks for that , I had forgotten that - you saved me a pointless drive and a foot stomping pout .............unless they price match themselves .mmm :)

because of all the hassle Sony got about SonicStage, they released two MP3 players simultaneously. They look the same, but the NWZ-A80x range is SonicStage ONLY and the NWZ-81x range is Drag & Drop ONLY. Neither can be converted to the other via firmware.

As mentioned before, the NWZ-A808 has gapless playbakc and because it uses ATRAC3, it can store a lot more than the Drag & Drop
#22
if you go on the sony site theres a new mp4 player which uses wireless earphones, bluetooth, i got one but only problem is you got to recharge the earphones seperately and also thee sound is not as loud as these old players
#23
Thank you, guys...

No, they both store 8gb.

Using the ATRAC3Plus option at 256kbit would mean you could have a few less tracks compared to a v2/aps/192kbit vbr mp3 but at a higher quality.

Using ATRAC3 at 132kbit would mean you would have about 50% more tracks than a V2/aps mp3 but at a reduced sound quality. (and if the tracks are mp3 rather than WAV/FLAC to start with then you are transcoding from one lossy format to another, which means even worse sound quality).

Still could,nt get one, all gone in leic area.. everyone seems to be getting the , 2gb, ones, which work , drag + drop.. yet argos still advertising the other model, ?? only want the drag type.. mart
#27
I have the black 4gig model and never used Sonicstage. Just synched via Windows Media Player and thats it. Wasnt impressed with Sonicstage anyway.
#28
has anyone picked one of these up?

are they handing out the newer NWA818 rather than NWA808 like in the other deal for the 2GB version?
