First post, be easy.

Found what I think is a cracking deal for a Sony MP3 player

1GB Multi Function MP3 Player with voice recording function and easy-to-use direct USB "Drag & Drop" for quick music transfer. The Auto-Transfer option allows this Walkman to search for all your MP3 files in your PC. The software can then copy these files directly to the Walkman.

You can also record CDs directly from a Hi-Fi system via USB connection without any PC. There is also a 3-line colour display, a voice recorder (MP3) with a bit rate of low 96 bps - mid 128kbps - high kbps.

Amazon sells at £25

660 on a 1gb? hmmm
#2
Thats what Halford reckon ;)

Personally you'd probs be looking at 200-300
#3
So what, great deal for a kids/spare quality player, nice thank you for the post.
#4
Good deal... Might get this as a stocking filler for my little one :-)
#5
Yep, got it for the missus for her stocking
#6
i too think its a good little deal, was just suspicious about the numbers halfords were cracking on about
#7
Sounds a good price and stock in all 5 local stores to me, just not sure I need one.
#8
Interesting how the 1Gb can store 660 and the 2Gb on the site is quoted as 990 (give or take).

Still a good deal - just want the spare headphones really and my old Sony player was fantastic comapred to my iPhone. If they had the 2gb one in stock near me I would have gone for that (£15)

Cheers OP.

Why not mention 1GB in the title?

A 1GB MP3 player will take 250 MP3 songs, BTW.

Depends... if this is one of the older models it may well be able to take ATRAC which has ridiculous compression ability (with accompanying deterioration) at something like 48kbps. Then its possible...

If it is ATRAC compatible then that means its also potentially gapless too...

I'm going off to check :)

Reserved a 1gb and 2gb at Aintree, liverpool by the way... both showing as in stock.
#11
I'm a prog fan... so its probably more like 50 tracks for me :)
#12
Battery Life on this is AMAZING!!!

Well Recommended !!
#13
Yup... its one of the older ATRAC models.... Gapless when using Atrac.... I think you have to use sonicstage... though could be wrong...

It's kind of pointless quoting capacity (in terms of number of songs), as it all depends upon bitrate/compression type.

supports MP3 & WMA ( does NOT support ATRAC, ATRAC3, AAC or any other format)

manual says:
490 songs @ 64kbps (which means crap quality)
250 songs @ 128kbps
125 songs @ 256kbps
99 songs @ 320kbps

battery lasts 12 hours with MP3 and 9 hours with WMA

Not sure if it's Mac compatible, but I'd be interested if you're selling. :santa:

Save your money and get something bigger, you need to be downloading at 256kbps for anything like decent quaility ............125 songs, that would be full in no time......

Great deal for a mp3 player to use while running. I've got a 5 year old phillips go gear one thats bound to break sooner or later.
#29
Come on people.. a dinky little 'spare' Sony mp3 player for £10-15 and you're complaining? This is a steal! No, it won't hold 1000's of tracks... but you won't be crying into your cocoa if you lose it either! This is the perfect throw-it-in-my-gymbag mp3 player for the cost of a CD or two. ;)
#30
Are the supplied headphones the type that plug in your ear?
#31
yup I agree this is a fair price for a SONY branded MP3 player.
#32
Great deal - unfortunately when I opened the very light feeling box - there was nothing inside it....... worth a shot.. shame it cost me my lunchtime

Picked mine up today (Leeds City Center) and it was perfect!

Headphones, instructions, gaurentee. Box slightly worn so maybe some old stock. But I'm not complaining!

If you got an empty box take it back!

£10 for a branded Sony Mp3 player!

Just reserved the 2 gig version. Already have an ipod shuffle and creative stone plus. Fancy a change. Will mostly be using it for running.

Back from Halfords but they couldn't find it. What a waste of an hour of my life. They had my reservation but didn't know where the mp3 player was. Not happy.

Reserved a 1gig and a 2gig one at my local. Turned up there this morning, they could not find it. I told them that I reserved it and was told that there was stock so it must be here somewhere.

10 minutes later she arrives back saying that they are display models. So i said fine as long as there are boxes etc.

She says, no they dont come with a box. I says, surely there must be a box somewhere. 10 minutes later - boxes come out. Earphones etc still there although boxes a little tatty.

Both players are fine - it just shows how arsed people are in these shops.

anyhow great deal.

I reserved a 1gb and a 2gb one at my local store, i had a phone call about 30 minutes later saying that the two I had reserved had bits missing!! I said could I buy at reduced price and they said they were really badly scratched etc, i think the staff may have just wanted them for themselves when they noticed the fab deal. They were determined I was not going to buy them.
