the main feature about this mp3 player is the fact it only needs 3 mins for 3hours playback which is great when your on the move and comes with noise canceling headphones. it also has a whopping 50hours playback.

bought 2 the other day- one for me and one for my wife (its her birthday)

very good sound quality- high quality device. Only slight annoyance is (1) the software- AWFUL - and (2) using the supplied headphones as they are rather sensitive you get a fair amount of hiss when music is quiet - don't get it if I connect up my Senns - but then loose the noise cancellation features.

I have heard of one disadvantage - but I haven't verified if it is true or not - if it is then its quite a problem really - thats that it never really actually turns off - people have said after days it runs out of charge whether you use it or not - so if you're on holiday a bit of a bummer - anyone verify whether this is true or not ?

I have the previous version of this player which is still more expensive than this model. The 3 mins charge is not its only main feature, everything about the player is great; size, charge, audio quality, interface etc. It's much better than the white shiny player everyone has. Some complain the volume is too quite but it's loud enough without resorting to distortion, hiss and loss of hearing. Every audio device falls under EU volume restrictions.

The only reason I bought the old one is there is 3rd party drag and drop software that makes it a breeze to put music onto the player instead of using Sonic Stage. Also, the unit does turn off, you have to hold down the play button till the unit turns off then place it in hold mode.

if your thinking of getting one , GET IT, they are brilliant. my wife got me one 4 my birthday in january and it cost £99 ( it was at £120 but had £20 off)
they do sound great. cant say i notice huge amount of difference on the noice cancelling phones as i use them every day cycleing and i still hear the traffic- could be dangerous if i didnt hear it. Anyway this is a great little unit at an amazing price so GO GRAB IT as i dont think they will last at that price

Damn, I've just brought one from USA for £60.
I've already got the 4gig version and it is excellent. Sound quality is top notch and SonicStage isn't that bad and does the job.

yep, i think the sonictage music manager is also good. i dont use there music store though - too dear @ 99 pence a track . I use russian sites like mp3.ua and another is iomoio, they both have huge librarys and they only charge about 15cents a track ( 8 pence) . quality it faultless and downloads are very quick and easy.

Does this just act like a USB drive when you plug it into a Mac? I don't want to just assume...

Great player I have had one for about 6 months. Charges in seconds and lasts for hours.

It never loses its charge when not used either !! I do switch it on hold when I leave it idle anyway. I only use it for the gym so it gets used periodically and always seems to have a good charge.

In summary great player, very compact, the noise canceling is awesome as I cant hear anything from people talking right next to me, even when I am on the rowing machine (the ones with a loud fan) I cant even hear that ! The PC doe NOT recognize it has a USB player and you have to use the 'sonic stage' software to transfer tracks etc, the software could be improved but is usable.

£49 its a steal !

Oooh, 3rd party software for the old version has got me interested.... I ditched this in favour of a Nano as I could use a plugin for WMP11 that let me drag and drop without iTunes.... Could you please let me know what 3rd party software lets you bypass the need for SonicStage as I'm very keen to use the sony mp3 player again. 3min charge is excellent -

guys - I don't know whether Argos are offering the same but if you buy it from Currys (same price) they throw in a free 'gift experience'. Got to be a better deal I reckon.

Check it out - Currys and here's the gift experience link

HTH

EDIT - Looks like it's Currys only from the T & C's

Just to add they have both the black and purple 2GB at £50 and also the 1GB version in Violet for £40. Each of these qualifies for the gift experience.

If you take the paintballing for two people as an example - that's worth £34. I would imagine the other activities are worth roughly the same. Not sure if they are transferable or not.
