Getting chilly in here any advice on why?
#2
thanks just ordered one was going to buy the 8gb version so i have got a bargain, probably people are voting cold because it is not a boring ipod lol,
#3
That's a very good price for an excellent Mp3 player. It's that much for the 8GB on Play. Good spot.
#4
hot good price for a 16GB mp3 player
#5
All good wasnt sure if id dropped a clanger first post and all that. Yes I got the A818 but the added features on this seem great like the iplayer support. Glad it helped you

Worth mentioning that the sony earphones are usually of very good quality
#6
Balls. I have the 8Gb and paid similar for that a few weeks ago now. If you are a proper music fan and don't give a rats ass about the iPod crowd then this won't disappoint. Much much better sound than from an iPod, this is a steal at this price.
#7
I have the 818 too, Can't justify buying another sadly.
#8
Surely can't be a bad buy at that price :). Cheapest I can see it elsewhere is at Dabs and it's almost £20 more.

I've got a 4GB Zen and am very tempted but ...
#9
Definitely worth the money
#10
I got emailed today about this mp4 player by comet and checked the prices online and saw this deal - you got in there first ;)

From the reviews on Amazon it looks like an excellent player for the price so hot hot from me

Cheers

Ps The red version is only £99.99 on Amazon for those who are looking for a bit of variety its called NWZ-S639FR (I've just ordered the black)
#11
Good first post Edward. Have some heat and rep.
#12
Thanks my sansa just went so this is the perfect replacement.
#13
Cheers just ordered one, heat and rep added
#14
hot hot heat
#15
gutted i paid 105 from play a couple of weeks ago, but still id pay it again superb player, the sound is so much better than an ipod it makes it look like one of those cheap chinese knock offs! :p

Great price would advise anyone to snap this up promto as amazon have a habit of putting the price low for a day or two before shooting it up again. they had the Sony NWZA829K down to £130 for a day or two before it shot back up to £165....so get it while you cant
#16
Heat and rep as this is an excellent deal. However can anyone tell me if this is now truly drag-and-drop? Linux only here so I really want something that just appears as removable media for the purposes of transfer, and plays ogg / mp3 without conversion. I've had other Sony players and although they were superb, I ended up selling at a loss as I couldn't stand SonicStage.
#17
Heat added....I like the drag and drop on this....much simpler than the original system!
#18
Hot. Several places seem to have the 8 and 16Gb versions for the same price at the moment - Currys for one. The 8GB one was £74 a week ago - maybe that one will drop in price again soon. As other have said it gets great reviews... :-D
#19
you can't delete files on the move nor can you create playlists on the move with this player

The red one is the same price from Amazon - what you looked at was a market place seller...
#21
this is a very good price for a very good MP3 player. I recently purchased one for the missus [only in red] for £109 from Amazon.
As a matter of interest the Which site consider these Sony jobbies above any of the iPlayers.
This also comes with software to download songs from your ipod/iplayer thingy..
Cheers

After spending hours deliberating, I chose the bluetooth Samsung (http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/3468349/Samsung-YP-P2JCB-XEU-8GB-Touch-Screen-Video-And-MP3-Player-With-Built-In-FM-Tuner/Product.html) over this but with the price drop I'm not sure now. Does anyone have any experience of both of these so could recommend one over the other, or just some experience with the Samsung? Thanks
#29
Bought the nwza818 8gb near the start of the year, wouldn't use any of the new features on this so not really bothered, I assume this one has good sound quality too. Still a great price for a 16gb. This would temp me only if it had bluetooth. Hot deal anyway.

This is supposed to be able to download Iplayer contant but i havent seen it done yet,£99 at currys and comet if you would rather buy one instore,

All you do is download the video from the iplayer site, and drag and drop the file to the player. Nothing special really. I'm pretty sure it will work on the nwza818, but not certain.

EDIT:files seem to be in wmv format if downloaded from iplayer in media player format, don't think they will work on the nwza818. However I don't see wmv as a format for this player, so I have no idea how it works.

According to the S630F series manual, it supports wmv

Audio codecs
-mp3
-wma
-AAC
-LPCM

Video Codec
-Mpeg 4 (i yhink they are refering to MPEG-4 SP, i.e. divx/Xvid)
-AVC (h.264)
-WMV

Photo format
-Jpeg

Mine just arrived today from amazon, ordered it on sunday. Would i recommend it? Yes if you don't already have a personal media player and decent sets of head/earphones. However if you already have some good headphones, there are probably better media player out there, like the irivers. Biggest disappointment is that most newer sony walkman do not support lossless audio compression and the lacking vorbis ogg suport can be an issue for some people. It doesn't even support sony's own audio format ATRAC-3, btw. But with 16GB storage space, if you want really high quality sound just rip your CDs as LPCM.

The iPlayer compatibility is brilliant. Very easy to do. All compatible files can be loaded via 'drag and drop' even non DRM AAC files from iTunes

Unfortunately it will only work on the current S, and E series models. Firmware is needed to understand the DRM that iPlayer uses.

Really Hot deal. I have one of these and a couple of previous units as well. Sound quality, battery life, and headphones (these cost about £45 in most high street stores) are all far better than iPods

Can some please tell me how to get iPlayer video files onto the damn thing. I have been trying unsuccessfully for 2 days now and starting to loose the will to live.

I have tried Dragging and dropping using Windows explorer but the file doesn't play (get the message of unsupported format on the player). Drag and drop using "Content transfer" gives an error stating that content transfer doesn't support DRM files. WMPlayer 11 gives the error that I haven't the right to sync file to portable device and Media Manager doesn't even show the DRMed file at all. The file I have been trying to transfer is the latest TopGear episode. What am I doing wrong??????????????????????????????????????????

Hello.

This is how I do it (Montell Jordan?)...

1 - Click 'download' on iPlayer and choose portable device (or whatever it is).
2 - Open MP3 player as a removeable harddrive - ie go through 'my computer' and select it.
3 - Find the Video Library folder and drag the downloaded file in to it.

You literally do not need to open WMP11 or whatever....

Works for me....
