Me too - at £20 complete bargain - at only 2GB not sure about its VFM at £40

agree not sure it is that great value at 2gb, I think the 8gb for £69 is better value.
#5
I too got this for £20 a few months back at Argos.
It is an excellent player with good sound and battery life, plus it DOESN'T need to use any proprierty Sony software - you can just drag and drop from within windows

£40 makes it a bit iffy in my book - for tha money i'd plump for a Sony NW-S705 off Ebay - Also 2GB, smaller unit and no video ability BUT has in built noise cancelling which is superb. Downside is you have to use Sony's SonicStage to download to it.

If you really want this one then I think I'd keep a look out for it dropping again maybe as clearance from the old Argos catalogue.

Does this have an FM radio ?
#7
Cold.

A) £20 in Argos as mentioned (well.. was)
B) Way to much for only 2GB

Consider the equivalent 2GB iPod which is the Shuffle around the same price. It doesn't have a screen and ships with Apple's woeful headphones. I don't think it's a bad deal at all as you get some quality headphones with it and has a great display.

Even if Argos did sell it once at £20, they aren't now...

And no it doesn't have an FM radio.
#9
Seems an alright deal, it just seems silly not to pay an extra £30 for one 4 times the size.

Argos may have done it cheaper, but you have to get to a store within hours of one being announced or you'll miss out.

Yep yet again as others have said, 2GB is far too small nowadays - I got 8GB in my w910i alone - and that's still not nearly enough.

Good player though. I got my dad the 8GB version for Xmas - great quality and features.

Why is 2GB too small? My 512MB iriver does the trick for me, and that cost me £55 2 years ago :-o

I don't use anything like 2gb on my phone.. this is pretty useless for loads of CDs.. but people could easily make their own playlist with a good amount of songs.

I had a 32mb MP3 player for about £200 a few years back

In my opinion this series of MP3 players is the best bar none...but - when i bought my 8gb sony i thought that it was way more space than i would need.
the problem is, it turned me on to so much music that i'm wanting a 32gb version ASAP. I don't like having to delete tracks that I love! 2gb would be far too low a capacity for me.
#14
I agree with some who feel it is too small nowadays but it's fine as a second unit for the car etc. That's what I bought mine for. I have a larger capacity DAP for if I want to take my music away. The smaller one is so easy to swap music from it made sense for me.

A mid point might be the 4gb NWZA816 which is instore in Sainsbury's for £59.99 (plus Nectar points).

They also sell the same sized 818 for £79.99 but I couldn't see that much difference in the 2 to warrant £20 more.

They had a big cardboard stand (empty for security) near the tills which also had cameras and other electrical goodies, but the electrical section (perspex windows) did not have these players on show. I had to ask CS to open the cupboard and sure enough loads of them in there from 2gb to 4gb, but the 816 is the best offer. NB it is a deep purple (not the group) colour, not black and is very nice quality, MUCH better than my daughters iPod Nano. Wil make a great gift for my wife's birthday next week.

The NWS705 is £38.49 with delivery on ebay for a unit with no screen. Not in the same league as the NWZA815 IMHO :?

Heat and rep from me as I think it is a good price. I'm not going to buy this model but I've been thinking about getting a new MP3 player for ages and this has prompted me to stopping Gordon Brown-ing (i.e. dithering), take the plunge, and buy the 8GB one from Play for £69.99. Sorted!

I've recently got the 8Gb (NWZA-818) version from Play, £70, I imagine the 2Gb is otherwise identical, so highly recommended if the capacity suits.

Good points are sound quality and clear menu system.

Drag & Drop from Explorer works but not for cover art or playlists, for them you need to use WMP11. (AFAICS)
#19
good price but 2GB isn't enough memory though. The previous deal for the 4GB version at £49.99 was a better deal.
#20
Voted hot, on 192 sample rate on loss format, can get 250 song on it +4 hours of DJ sets.

Really depend HOW much music you can listen to.

hi we have the 8gb one from play.. and we have vista. the cd artwork does come in when being copied., maybe vista as the , wmp.11 on ??.. great mp3 these are.

Price matched pcworld on this for another £2.30 off.

Sound quality is superb, headphones are top quality and no sonicstage rubbish.

I don't find the 2Gb limit a problem. I hook mine up to the PC daily (work) and pull off the music I want for the day. And to be fair, I have so much music, 8Gb still wouldn't cover the whole collection.

Can anyone tell me how to get a video on it, keeps telling me needs converted, unsure how to do that except through Nero and onto blank DVD. Dragged and dropped music ok. My son devastated as he wanted to watch a footi match on it. What format do video file need to be? Many thanks guys
