at this price it beats the ipod nano, but i have to admit the ipods are easier to use, not that this one is tricky or anything

Crystal clear display coupled with a simple user interface means that you can find your music, video and photos quickly and easily. Intuitively designed, the WALKMAN video offers enhanced searching (and cover art display) meaning you can conveniently access every classification (artist/album/genre etc) from the Now Playing page.

Video playback lets you play video 'podcasts', downloaded content from other internet sites, TV content recorded directly to your PC, and even movies you shot on your camcorder. It's versatile and easy to use. You can change screen format from vertical (portrait) to horizontal widescreen (landscape) and you can zoom in during playback. Stores up to 1000 video files. High speed playback, up to 30 frames per second for smooth viewing. With the 8GB version, you can store as much as 32 hours of video (at 384kbs).

Your WALKMAN NWZA is WMT compatible, so you can purchase and download music from most online music providers – look for the ‘Plays for sure’ logo. Transferring music to your WALKMAN couldn’t be easier – simply select, drag and drop compatible files using ‘My Computer’ and you are ready to go! The WALKMAN NWZA series plays a variety of file types including WMA / MP3 / AAC / Linear –PCM Intuitively designed, the WALKMAN video offers enhanced searching

Can someone with one confirm it is just 'drag and drop' and that awful Sonicstage software isn't needed at all?

Thanks.

No sonic stage needed. You can drag and drop from windows explorer although I use windows media player so I can put playlist together, plus for some reason when you drag and drop the player wont show the album date?.

Hi Ive had one of these for a couple of months now and have to say I am very impressed with it. Sound quality is exceptional and ease of transferring songs is great. The only problem ive had is that when transferring albums very few of them have the album artwork cover. Not a major issue but aesthetically looks nicer when searching. Does anyone know a way of getting the artwork on easily? is there a program for this?. Sorry if this is easy, but not the most computer savvy.

the way i do it is put all my albums into individual folders first, then gon the net and find an image of the album cover (google image search is fine), then save the image into the relevant album, and name it as folder.jpg

pretty sure that works, dont know if the sony player is picky, but i think it works on my ipod

Saving the image to the relevant folder does not work... What you have to do is embed the image into each of the mp3 files.

To do this I use a program called Media Monkey, which properly tags your mp3 and allows you to add an album art to individual files or to a whole batch in one go.

I hope this helps!

Can someone confirm how you charge the unit, the reason for asking is that I am considering buying it for someone who lives in Germany.

Is it charged via USB or standard 3pin plug?
#20
the new walkman is essentially the same but with bluetooth and bluetooth headphones. Sony are also releasing the new walkman without bluetooth, but it looks like they won't make it to the UK.....

question is, are these likely to get any cheaper? Surely they can't, no? I'd buy from Amazon to have the price change policy but they're not in stock......

Can anyone recommend any software for converting VOB files into MP4's so I can us them in this?, I tried various methods all without success, preferably simple & free! cheers
#25
its tougher to convert DVDs than downloaded files unfortunately, so much hassle that i've never bothered myself.

But look for some sort of "dvd to ipod video converter" since i think it will do the job, i think this sony player will play the same kind of movies an ipod does, and since they are more popular, you've got a better chance searching for that

I've found this free one if anybody needs a fairly quick and easy way to put ripped dvds into this unit -
http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/ - PSP, video walkmans etc.
