Think its Sony?

Optiarc is Sony and NEC's joint optical drive division.

A good all round DVD burner.

NEC's writers always used to be good, and Sony generally used to just rebrand Lite-On (now JVC LITEON Manufacturing & Sales) drives, which were also OK.

I've got a couple of NEC drives, and one Sony/Optiarc drive; hasn't disappointed.

The non-lightscribe one is £15.99 from Play [delivery charge for me from Ebuyer] http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/9692094/Optiarc-AD-7240S-0B-24X-DVD-RW-+-RAM-Internal-Drive-Black/Product.html though not currently in stock.

BTW this 24X technology is around 1 1/2 years old now.....

Reminds me of an old joke.........

Guy wants a door for his transit.
Goes to first scrappie,
"I need a driver's door for a transit van - how much are they?"
"£5 sir"
"OK - I'll have one"
"Sorry sir - don't have any".

Visits second scrappie.
"I need a driver's door for a transit van - how much are they?"
"£10 sir"
"What! - the guy down the road only wants £5 for one!"
"Well why dont you buy one from him?".
"He hasn't got any".

"Well, ours are only £5 when we haven't got any!" ;-)

Listen smartass, it says normally despatched within 10 days - you can still order at the price - which has since reduced by 50p............
