If anyone gets this at their store can they be kind enough to come back with feedback...thanks guys.

I will have a look tonight ( hope they arent all gone) as at work at the mo
#4
this is probably due to the fact a new PS2 lite is coming, with the power supply integrated.
simply amazing that they keep updating the hardware to make it even sweeter.

MS could learn a bit from these overhauls :)

Screenshots of the "lite PS2 lite " being released later in the year here
(posting a link to avoid any copyright issues)

Not sure I don't prefer the look of the current model (the one in the posted offer) - it's a neat unit even without an integrated PSU - voted hot.

Nice price. Its a shame that most tescos have already sold out of these even before they launched this offer. PS2 Hardware and software is starting to disappear very quickly from the shelves off most places. This is to ramp up sales for the PS3. Currently WII is outselling the XBOX360 and PS3 is lagging behind, if sony want to retain the console sector they need make the PS3 hardware and software more attractive. (Attractive = cheaper)

why are sony even producing a new ps2 lite? seems a bit pointless when its 'old technology'?!
#8
because there's still plenty of demand

Offer ends Thursday. And today is not Thursday...

Can anyone verify this has finished or are there more units available?

Also, has anyone actually found a store with stock at this price yet? (I suspect not as the offer should've finished yesterday.)

Theres no demand really thats why its £50. The only logical reason I can see is that some people buy the ps2-slim as a replacement for the original ps2 which has broke so that they can use all those games they still have. It also acts as a DVD player. Its a good buy for the price though.
#11
You need one in addition to a PS3 really just to maintain 100% backward compatibility!

johncas is correct in saying this.
ps2 Guitar hero is noted to have problems with ps3

I know it says instore only before anyone comments, but they are out of stock on their website so I can't see many stores having any.
#16
From experience the 60% figure of backwards compatability from PS3 to PS2 is a bit of an over estimate, I'd peg it at near 40% and at £50 you can't go wrong really if you want to continue to enjoy your PS2 games. There is an advert on Sony's website for a developer to work on backwards compatibility for PS3 though so perhaps the demise of the 60GB isn't the last we'll hear on the issue...
#17
I've found two stores with them in already today...

It is pointless regardless of what anyone says... what this one that Tesco were selling isn't small and light enough. It's just a waste of everyones money... and just a waste in general.

No consoles displayed, just the dvd box type case that you take to customer services where the ps2 games are.

Cheers

If there was no demand the price wouldn't still be hovering around the £95 mark for a new black model - I'm not saying that I would pay that (I got mine when ASDA did their £50 pound offer about a year ago - amazed at the usual prices since then), but its still a good machine (even at 8 years old) , still plays decent SD games (Shadow of the Colossus, Lego Star Wars), and is ideal for kids and parties with all the casual gamer stuff (EyeToy, Buzz, SingStar) that you can't justify buying a "next-gen" console for - something like the Wii may do some of these things better, but its several times the price and has a smaller back-catalogue.

the ps2 still sells loads in japan - still outsells most consoles but the Wii if not that aswell at some point in the Wii's life time. So they make the new models as there is still huge demand and we eventually get them but they're not really for our market. I picked one up as a nice spare DVD player and bonus of playing my old PS2 games - games like the God of War 1+2 and better than 95% of game on my PS3,Wii and PC.

Got my hand on another one at christmas as sold it with a few games for over 100 notes so there is obviosly demand . . .

Managed to get one at Tesco's Port Talbot. They had two more in stock at 11.40.

Also picked one up from the Port Talbot store this afternoon, sales asst said there were still 2 left after I bought mine, excellent deal, my son will be thrilled his old one has just given up the ghost and I didn't fancy splashing out nearly £100 for a new one so this is just the ticket

just picked one at tesco willenhall, wolverhampton. apparently there is only one left and they asked me if i want to take it so they can take the sign off the shelf. i only needed one so hopfully a hukd will grap the last one. now where can i find cheap games? it defeats the purpose to buy the console for £50 and spend silly money on games:thumbsup:
