Here we go again.
#3
cheap, and you still get full year warranty from sony.
#4
tempted but not sure about 'slight damage' , anyone used these before ? the odd scratch aint too bad but don't want it falling apart !
#5
They're still covered by guarantee so whats the problem! They wouldn't sell them if they weren't fit for sale. You still have your full consumer rights.

I say go for it if you wan't a PS3 and a good find.
#6
good enough for me then, ta
#7
i bought one of the catalouge return from choices a while bk, the box was in very good condition, and the ps3 itself was perfect and had never actually been turned on before and also came with the sony 1 year gaurentee

I've been looking into getting a next-gen console, either this or a 360. What's the usual going price for a machine of this calibre?

Cheapest playstation 3 is £284.99 at amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000WNDP5M/

This seems like a bargain!

For PS3 well they still sell for £299 new so this is a great deal. 360 are cheap but there is a reason there cheap they break all the bloody time lol but there still good.

IMO I would go for the PS3 m8 got loads of great games free online play and a blu-ray drive. Also can connect to the internet wireless strait out the box. If you wanted a 360 its £40 a year to play online also if you want to play online wireless then you need to buy a £60 wireless adapter.

Totally overspent already this month.

BUT I WANT THIS!!!!!

#16
cracking deal, got one, heat added......

I got one last time this offer came up it took about two weeks for it to be delivered and my one was pretty tatty had quite a few scratches and scuffs, which looked bad on the piano black finish. Also it did not work, it powered up but had a hard drive error.

I was really disappointed and was going to return it and you have to do that at your own expense which was going to be the best part of £20 for insured postage as this is a heavy item.

The silver lining was I rang Sony directly told them I had it for two weeks and they agreed to send me a new one I just had to fax them my receipt (which thankfully does not state it was a customer return), although it took Sony three attempts to get one to me.

Anyway proud owner of a spanking PS3 worth it if you can be be bothered but worth buying anyway at retail price as PS3 is the best quality console out there.

I bought one of these last month for £199 from the same company and it was in perfect condition, believe it had never been used. The company got slated on this website for late delivery etc, but mine was delivered in 8 days.
Why not by some more stuff from them at pretty good prices and all for £4.99 packing and postage.
Don't hesitate and if you can aford it buy!
#21
PS3 is worth it at that price also you can get some of the games in Platinum, free online gaming, internet wireless, Blu-ray disk player and DualShock 3 Wireless Controller (I don't think is included though).HOT

cant believe how many have sold already ! only the box damaged ones left (which i bought !) but still a bargain at £224 !

I have ordered the catalog returns one for £205. I hope I don't regret this.

My thought process on this would be that I more than likely will want to get the 45nm CPU, 65nm RSX version when its released by Sony around this time in 2009.

I had contacted Sony UK last week and they said the 80GB versions don't, as many have hoped and suspected, have the 65nm RSX inside the hardware is identical to the 40GB version bar the new hard drive which is easily swappable anyway.

So figured I would take a gamble on a cheap temporary PS3.

So can I ask those that have done this before, even if I get one and it looks like its been dropped from a seventh floor building, Or one Freddy Kruger has seemingly used to sharpen his claws on the shiny case edge, as long as the serial code brings up no problems when registering it online with Sony I am safe and secure?.

I really hope I don't regret this.

When that happens, and as long as you will stay under your max credit limit, you just need to telephone up your Credit Card company and say to them that you are wanting to make a large purchase.

As its just the automatic fraud detection blocking it. Unless of course the £205 takes you over your credit limit which if so you will need to clear some off your card.

So just to confirm, on the webpage they are saying its tested and guarenteed to be in working order.

But if it arrives broken you need to pay to return it yourself?. Or do you just need to pay to return it if you change your mind and no longer want it?

If its the first I am not sure but isn't that illegal under distance selling law?.

this what it says in there T&Cs:

Please note that you will be responsible for the costs of returning goods to us unless the item is faulty or it was delivered to you in error. We would recommend for your own protection that you use a recorded delivery service.

so if it doesnt work it isnt you that has to pay

What's the difference between the current ps3's and the one you refer to above?

That is correct they did offer to pick it up but it was suggested that you would be hanging around all day, if you are happy to do that fine.

Also when I asked for a refund they were kind of vague on the turnaround they mumbled something like 14 days. Just be wary, sweet if it goes well and you get a spanking new one but from experience it was pretty depressing when a **** one turns up, which had clearly not been tested as stated. This is no Amazon or Play you are dealing with here.

These ones they are selling now are probably the ones that were returned last time. Minus a few where people like myself got an exchange from Sony. I guess they will keep doing it till they get shot of them all. lol
#36
why has this expired theres still 15 left ? did i list it wrong ?

I have never owned a PS3. So I am in Xbox360 mindset, and also PC mindset here.

But firstly a joint 45nm CPU 65nm RSX it will use considerably less wattage to run.

It will also run much cooler and quieter and will be able to handle more strain.

Also @

You did not list it wrong. They are all sold out of the one you listed, so somebody has expired it. I don't know where you are getting 15 left from. They do stil have the £225 models in stock but these are a different product to the one listed and sold out.

Taken from the website.
sorry it's all gone!

I really do want one and that price is shouting at me, but I only want it for the bluray player and I have heard the 80gb version is quieter so Im gonna wait for that to drop in price.

Im a patient guy lol

Can I ask a question to anyone in the know of Sony.

If I receive one and it has a few scratches on the shiny outer case. However it works or invariably doesn't work when I receive it like topdealman's didn't, and I keep it, after successfully registering its warranty with Sony.

If it later knackers, or I decide to immediately deal with Sony if it arrives knackered. Will they have any problems swapping it out due to the scratches on the case?

I just have this bad feeling after googling and seeing someone have Sony refuse to RMA it due to it being slightly dusty inside, or because they used a Surge Protector Extension lead as opposed to a standard Plug.

These stories make me slightly worried if things go belly up with my console.
