According to the SkyNews Asda are selling PS3 with 2 games for 299 (see link below). I had look on their website found a deal where you get controller + game. Not sure if this is good deal but I thought I post it.

Just saw that as well, but couldnt find the one with 2 games only with a free controller and a free game Which is Lair. Also £5.81 delivery making it about £305!!

If you can wait for one, it might be worth waiting until deals come out with the dual shock controller or even the bigger hard drives.

"The offer is running from 31st January to 3rd February and will be available at Asda stores nationwide."

if you read the full sky news article at the bottom it says:

On Thursday, it had Lair and Ridge Racer 7 plus PS3 for 299, but this changed to the current offer of Lair and extra controller (Still available online).

got the deal with the extra controller (Which I prefer to the 2 games), getting delivered tomorrow, plus got via Quidco so about £7.50 cashback as well.

Not sure if it is an instore offer, as I rang around a few of my local stores (North East) to see if they do this offer, but they don't so decided to buy online.

Getting it tomorrow WOOO HOOOOO been waiting since last year for one of these. :-D

p.s. Hard Drive can be upgraded if you're worried about the small hard drive size. See Link below for instructions

Does changing the HDD invalidate the warranty?
Also, is the O/S stored on flash memory or something - i.e. how does it cope installing a new drive? Do you not have to install the OS on it once installed?

electrical equipment has software on pic chips, not hard drives. desktop computers being the exception.

From the article on CNET, i dont think it invalidates the warranty, plus, Sony have instructions on the manual on how to change the hard drive, so it should be supported.

You don't need to backup the O/S, just the game data, media files and downloads. There is a backup option on the PS3, select backup to removeable drive, and backup your data to a removeable hard drive, and once you put in the new drive, restore the backup data from the removeable drive.

however, the article does say some Legal downloaded films etc might not restore properly.
See CNET article for details.

I heard about this on Sky News' online news bulletins that came up on google, according to them the free games had to be Need For Speed: Pro Street and Fifa 08.

Rang up my Dad, sent him to ASDA (as we'd been meaning to go halves on a PS3 for a while now), and he managed to walk out with a PS3, Assassin's Creed and NFS for £289.99! He said he could've pretty much had any games he wanted, but we decided on those 2. Awesome deal.
