Think it's safe to assume just console, controller and cables.
#7
damn good price..
#8
any warranty?
#9
just sold mine for same price..

My PS3 died 2 weeks ago and Sony want £140 to repair it, going to ring them tomorrow and see if they'll do for less now these prices are coming abour would make more sense to spend £40 and get a new console with 12 month warranty if they won't.
#11
Finally a ps3 deal worth posting, HEAT & REP. Good Fine!
#12

What happened to it? I'd argue with them either way, I'd expect a £300 console to be good for 4-5 years without fault. I'm sure there is an EU law which backs you up on this too.
#14
None at Cheadle, still showing at £249.99 there.
#15
I think I read on some other HUKD post (which was about a sony tv they were selling) that John Lewis will price match any other John Lewis, meaning that you can get them to price match the bluewater one even though you're in Cheadle? Dunno if anyone can shed more light on this.

ylod ?? or drive error

Not Available in the Leicester store! still showing at £249.99 - shame!

PS3's are all reliable. Faults are caused by the users.

Actually their failure rate is around 10%.

I think this deal is a one off

Fantastic price i've seen, but pity on me as my ps3 40gb laser died on me and I replaced it with a new one + labour for £80

The PS3 Slim recently debuted, so this is now discontinued - makes sense for a price drop to happen..

Yep, I can confirm this as used to work at JL for 10 years. They now match ANY other JL and ny other retailer in the country (not online retailers). It used to just be within a 30 mile radius but they scrapped that about 4 years ago or so. :)

This doesnt seem like a good deal to me, probably because they are selling the new ps3 slim with Batman Arkham asylum for £217 where I work (Heathrow Airport HMV). :whistling: Unfortunately its after passport control so not accessible to all.
#27
So is this deal only store specfic or is it nationwide need to know because I need to go very far for this tommorrow. ?
#28
I'm still rockin' the original 60GB model, best one IMO, still works fine, but they are a nuisance with all the dust they collect :x What do you PS3 owners think to the new dynamic themes?

Add me on the PSN: Scalamandoo

As my post (#26 above), JL will match within any of there stores so just get them to match Bluewater, as long as they both have it in stock.

Thanks for that. Lets hope the one I am going to has them in stock.

Gonna phone both stores to make sure they have them in stock before I leave.

EU law gives you 2 years, I know it does on TV's anyway. UK law gives 6 years on TV's for example, not sure about games consoles but worth looking into. Shame you didn't take out cover with Continuous Play who have now stopped any new sign ups.
#32
Can anyone post on here if they are succesful in price matching, especially at John Lewis Cheadle.

Thanks.

That was the branch I used to work in so they should defo match it, as long as both stores have it in stock.

:w00t: Well it is a bit of a waste of time getting a 5 year warranty then, isn't it? Can you give more details - to whom do I return my faulty TV after 4 1/2 years? Store or manufacturer?

As far as i'm aware its not as simple a it should last for 6 years, its what they call resonable life expectancy, if you paid £500 plus for a tv then it expexted life is normally 4-5 years if it packed up in 2 you could argue the toss with the store saying it was sold and not fit for purpose.

4 1/2 years you strugle to argue that it hasn't lived and good lengh of time.

I'm left a little shocked at how much Sony CHARGE for repairing consoles after reading some of the comments on here.

At least Microscrote repair RROD 360s for free.
#38
Right. So no-one apart from the Op has so far seen the PS3 at this price or has tried price matching it as yet to another John Lewis to see if this is real?

I'm going to start my own thread I reckon. My local Tesco is doing them for £149.99....
#39
just been to john lewis/waitrose in canary wharf, still showing as £249.99 and the member of staff said they would not match bluewater as they're waitrose and not john lewis, is this correct?

Whilst I agree with this, it is also important to note that I still have a fully functioning N64 (about 12 years old now) and given that is a games console, you would expect a PS3 to last half that at least. Same with a TV. There are cheap, old CRTs about that have last many, many years and by this alone, you would expect a modern TV to last at least six years.

Warranties are a red herring. Under UK law (Sale of Goods Act 1979) the vendor (not the manufacturer) is obliged to sell you something is both FIT FOR PURPOSE and DURABLE. Given this person's PS3 has died in such a short space of time, the vendor has failed in both these respects. Write them a nice letter and they'll fix it/replace it for you. My brother recently used this to get a new iPhone, even though the store had said that they wouldn't touch it as the warranty was void due to "water damage"...

Know your rights!!
