It's a lotta money!

Rubbish, XBOX 360 is cheaper & better LOL (just thought I'd troll a PS3 thread like they seem to ALWAYS do whenever a 360 thread is posted!!)

Seems a bit expensive still though IMHO, but thanks for sharing anyway

Blah blah....add on the price of the 360 HDD, Wi-fi adaptor and Xbox live subs for a couple of years and the 360 starts to catch up.

Add on the price of a HD movie streamer (Real HD movies not WMVHD) and a Bluray player to the 360 and suddenly the PS3 seems good value ;-)

nope we aren't

tbh i know a LOT more 360 fanboys who think that there is nothing wrong with their beloved 360. Even if it has been repaired 6 times :D
really though the 360 is dearer not trying to start an argument but the cheapest 360 + a bd player(with BD live) is over £300

I agree with price thing, but if people are so bothered about watching HD films, get a blu ray player or whatever. The idea about a GAMES console, is to play GAMES. In my personal opinion the xbox 360 is better. Not a fan boy, because i much preferred the ps2 to xbox.

so you dont think its better to get a 'free bluray player' with your ps3 than to shell out another 150 quid for a player when you buy an x360?
for anyone that does both of these its completely valid - i have neither btw :)

You can get nectar points from amazon, for what it's worth

Warm on the deal, can't see why people get so excited about a £2 HDMI cable...
#16
yup i know u can get nector points just wondered why the poster had " + ipoints" with this offer, does he know something we dont, as i cant see no mention of ipoints lol

You need to look on ipoints itself as the vast majority of sites you can get ipoints on don't mention it (because ipoints is just like quidco, but you get points instead of money).

Amazon isn't listed on ipoints though.

Agree with the price point (not so with the fanboys, both seem to have a healthy following of fanatics!!:-D). If you want the extra's the PS3 isn't a bad price at all, infact, it amazes me why people buy BRay players when you can get the PS3 for pennies more than a standalone, thing is, I dont want the extra's (CRT telly makes blueray pointless ) so for me its still expensive. I personally think both are good consoles but at the moment theres not enough over the 360 to warrant the purchase..... till the telly dies that is :whistling:

You can get stand alone Blu Ray players for under £150 now so its not really pennies more like it used to be.

It's hardly free if you have to pay extra for it!

I have both BTW. My 360 is used for games (which it does far better than the PS3) and the PS3 is used to collect dust .. er.. watch Blu-Ray movies.

Oh and the argument that a 360 + standalone player is more than a PS3 is moot. If you have both, it means someone can watch a Blu-Ray movie on one telly and you can play games on the other.
#22
best deal i've seen is the one currys did over christmas, 299.00 or 329.00... can't remember but you got the ps3 160gb, smackdown vs raw, fifa 09, littlebigplanet, and a code to download 3 other games online, was gonna buy it... think i might get a ps3 when i graduate....

OK we believe that you aren't biased XBOXguru.

Great deal for anyone looking to buy a PS3. I'd recommend getting LittleBigPlanet and Killzone 2, two of the best games available on any system this generation. Also LittleBigPlanet is both child friendly and hardcore gamer friendly too.

With regards to the people that say the 360 is better for games, it depends on taste really. I also have both consoles, but I play my PlayStation 3 a LOT more, I also use it for watching movies and videos off the HDD, and for Blu-Ray movies. Sometimes when I can't be bothered loading up the computer I just go on the PS3's web browser. It really is one of the best consoles ever made. The 360 doesn't really have a large variety of games (and by this I mean the good games are mainly shooters), and i already had to send mine in for repair 3 times.

Fact is PS3 is much better value for what you get than the 360.

BUT people thinking of buying a PS3, maybe you should wait until June 5, cos that is when E3 finishes and there is a LOT of speculation that a price cut is coming very soon.
#24
I bought a ps3 on saturday from blockbusters £310 with killzone 2 and any other game (i chose world at war) I also have a 360. I bought the ps3 as my 3rd 360 has the E74 and my live subs ran out . I've decided to not throw any more cash at microsoft. The 360 was great for the games and online play i only switched because of the hardware issues.

compared to the deal from Additions, this was around £192... this deal then looks quite average...

Defo rate the PS3 over the Xbox!!!! :D

obviously its not free which is why its in inverted commas - but then if you require a bluray player with an xbox then its not free.
anyone that is going to have both a bluray player and a gaming console has to consider the extra costs of the console - for ps3 there is no extra.
If you dont want bluray then fine, xbox is cheaper (dunno about all the doodas other say you need) but if you do its obviously total costs you need to think about.

+1

I have both and the ps3 is always the one I use for games as it boots up and loads a game about twice as quick as my 360.

360 only bought for gow2 so will be selling it once I have completed that. Hopefully it wont break down in that time as only 6 weeks old! :p

where?

you forgot to add on all the other extras you need for a 360 (wireless network adaptor, hard drive etc!). PS3 works out far cheaper overall if you want the extras.

I was astounded when I got my elite to discover I cant even load divx, photo or mp3 files on to it! :w00t:

Agreed! Although with me PS3 is more used for media and streaming, and the occasional gaming. However 360 is the gaming platform for me, 360 + Xbox Live

360 is expensive to run though bare that in mind.

#38
Lol, I was hoping to say "inb4 fanboys on either side." But I'm way too late for that. Good price anyway. Personally though I searched around ebay and got my PS3 for £170 with two controllers which was obviously cheaper, but each to their own.

Oh and as someone who owns a 360 and a PS3, I can say that they both rock in different ways. :P

Actually I inherited the nick back in the Xbox days (2003), which if what you're assuming was right, why it doesn't say 360guru or something similar.
