At blockbuster you can get a ps3 80gb + 2 games from a selection which includes the following:

Infamous
Ghost busters
Resistance 2
Motorstorm Pacific Rift
Killzone

Then you can choose any game for the third game, Personally i would go for batman arkham asylum as it's great. But you could be cheeky & try to get guitar hero world tour complete band bundle if they had it in stock.

Good time to get a ps3 , Saw this deal today when picking up my ps3 slim with batman :-D

Really good deal. Infamous and batman are the best games this year for me.

You could get about £40 for ghostbusters and infamous at cex and £30 for batman I think.
So if you sold them all, the ps3's cost you £190.

No offence to everyone, but why are these deals hot???

These are now old PS3's. In my humble opinion, these should be £150 given that these are now not the current model.

Retailers are no doubt trying to shift these and tempt people with better games than they would normally bundle with.

i suppose the only thing in defence of that (well the only thing i can think off - im sure others will have their say) is that there was nothing wrong with the older ps3's - some people even like them better!

I prefer the finish on the older PS3's, gloss black is nice.

I'd think I'd buy a slim though if I was in the market for one.

Yeah I prefer the look of the fat version. If the slim is cheaper to produce, I'd have thought that it would be made with cheaper parts too. Only time will tell if they are as reliable as the original version.

A minor thing for me too is that you can't stand the slim vertically without buying an optional stand. It wouldn't go in my tv unit next to my subwoofer unless I can stand it vertically.

They may be the older model but the Slim just has a slighty bigger HDD and is smaller, apart from that no difference so essentially the same thing, if you aint going to be moving your PS3 around then the PHAT PS3 looks nicer next to a glossy HDTV imo.

Also just to mention the PS3 has now got iPlayer on it since the update yesterday and its works really well too, hopefully lookiing at the new marketing its seems more things like iPlayer will be added soon :D.

Very good time to buy a PS3.

Dont forget they say you cant run Linux on the newer versions anymore. :x I link the older style to.

Main problem with the older models is a higher power usage. If you aren't bothered about that or the size then it is probably a better to get the bigger one. It has proven quality of manufacture, looks nicer (IMHO), has some additional functionality and is about £40 cheaper (approx 20%).

does the 80gig have backwards compat?

No!

I think the old ps3s look far snazzier tbh:thumbsup:

My main issue is the exclusive content is still not great for anybody like myself who has a Xbox 360 and Wii (as well as a PSP).

The only 3 games that are of interest that are exclusive (Fat Princess, LBP, Motorstorm) are all coming to the PSP.

However this is a cracking deal for the much better looking of the 2 versions of the PS3, so i guess it's hot if your in the market for one.

I'm with you on this on Mole, Id like a PS3 but atm i cannot justify the cost when theirs not many exclusives game I want to play apart from metal gear, infamaous and the Resistance games but that's not enough to warrant a purchase just yet ...might wait for better bundles near Christmas.

Heat added though as seems like a good deal

GT5, inFamous, Heavy Rain, Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm, MGS4, Ferrari Challenge, Uncharted + Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Wipeout HD, God of War III, ..... not enough exclusives?!

And how many of those are also on PSP? Ok not the same quality of graphics but i think the PSP pulls off the gameplay experience of the home console games very well.

Ferrari Challenge is also on PSP Wii and PS2. As for the other games out of the ones that are released (at least 2 are not due till 2010) only Uncharted is not available or coming to PSP.

1 game that i have no interest in does not warrent £250+ from me. Compare that to the PS2 exclusives and the list is extremely poor.
